Product Description

Sometimes the best things in life come from the unexpected. So if you lower your expectations, then you’ll never be disappointed. Sound cheesy? It is, but it's also true. Clichés come from a grain of truth…like a man with a Porsche is compensating for something, or once a cheater always a cheater—you get the idea. Sorry, I digress. I'm supposed to be telling you what this book is about.

I'm Megan Walker, a lawyer at one of the hottest boutique law firms in Atlanta. I'm on the fast track to making partner and have my entire life planned out...or I did.
We all know how that goes, right? Best laid plans and all that.
Life just threw me a couple curveballs, so I've set out to take things into my own hands. By throwing caution to the wind and getting out of my A-type personality bubble, I'm learning more about myself than I have in my twenty-seven years.
Sound like a chick flick, doesn't it?
It’s not.

well.....i just finished this book at 1am this morning. Lordy, what a great read!! This is like a modern day version of Thelma and Louise - i don't like to make comparisons, but the characters themselves compare their story to the movie, so i'm going to agree with them! This book is witty, hilarious-laugh-out-loud-funny, thought provoking and sexy. Megan and Lo are best friends.....a crazy set of circumstances leads them to embark on a road trip from Atlanta to California, and there are some fun and crazy times along the way! I loved the deep friendship between the two women, it reminded me so much of how some of my close friends and i get along, and can be totally ourselves with each other, without judgement, and with all the love and support from them. The book is very well written, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Fabulous happy ending. Look forward to reading more from this Author. (This book can be read as a stand alone, but it seems there will be follow on books with the same characters coming later in the year). Highly recommended!!

Favorite Quotes:

“Don’t you hate it when your friends know you so well it makes being in denial hard?”

“It’s hard to hear the truth, like once it’s put out there it’s more true than if it’s just in your head.”

“There is rampant flatulence during the stretching. This causes me to giggle. It’s hard not to laugh when grown ass women are farting like fraternity boys.”

“I am habitually early, which is really annoying if anyone is five minutes late because I’ve already been there for fifteen minutes.”

“First of all, the people who make adult onesies should be shot. Second, the people who wear onesies should be forced to hang out with each other and not make normal people see that s**. Third, my mom is insane. No one told me she bought new boobs.”

“The expression on his face is filled with wonder and love and lust and I can’t decide which one I like better.”

My Review:

I have a new favorite author – I know I say this often – I am a ho like that, but does it make me a ho if I always mean it? Soon after beginning this book - I logged into Goodreads and quickly added every one of her books to my TBR. I want to read every book, story, and memo this talented woman has ever put to paper. Sunshine and Whiskey is an uproariously funny and snarky little tale that was exactly what I was needing. It took me forever to finish as I frequently had to stop to catch my breath and wipe the tears of mirth from my eyes. I laughed so hard and it woke my husband, so then he demanded to read it too. I smiled, chuckled, chortled, snorted, giggled, and laughed aloud during the majority of this delightfully humorous and wickedly entertaining tale. The clever banter was fresh and so crisp it crackled.

By K Melton - Published on Amazon.com
I can honestly say this book surprised me in so many ways who knew RL Griffin could write a humorous, laugh out loud,it will touch your heart, there are also pantying dropping moments. I connected on so many levels with the characters, you will feel what they are going through, this is a well written, there's a little bit of everything in this book, trust me you won't be disappointed.
Meghan and Laura are best friends( you know the one who is your person) Meghan life is falling apart and she starts questioning her life and Laura losses her job, so they embark on a EPIC ROAD TRIP, there's plenty of antics that the two of them get themselves into some real Thelma and Louis s***,Meghan is smart, sassy, no filter, and Laura is smart, taking life as it comes they balance each other out NO JUDGEMENT. You never know what the two of them or going to get themselves into, it's your typical best friend story that will have you on the edge of your seat laughing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely LOVE. If I was going to rate a book ... 22 April 2015
By Heather - Published on Amazon.com
Sunshine & Whiskey is the first book I read by RL Griffin.

First I want to bring up the cover. Absolutely LOVE. If I was going to rate a book by a cover this would be the beyond a 5 star.

I loved this story. It had me laughing, some parts frustrated, other parts in awe with the love and friendship that Megan and Laura have.
This story test the friendship that these 2 ladies have.

A road trip to find yourself. Megan wants to hold on to old love and looking for a way to let it go. She meets many people on here trip with the push of Laura. I mean a push out side of Megans boundaries. It works for her and by the end does she find herself? Can she let go?

I don't want to say to much and spoil this for readers. I truly enjoyed and will be reading more from RL Griffin.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Hilarious Ride! 22 April 2015
By SherryP - Published on Amazon.com

RL is known for writing books that touch your heart. This is a new style of book for her and she did a phenomenal job! Sunshine and Whiskey touches your heart but mainly in the form of laughter. It's not only hilarious and jaw dropping...it's a trip riddled with crazy antics and true friendships. It's a must read ...if you want to pee your pants from laughing so hard!

True friendship pours from this book. A road trip in general can get on anyone's nerves, so you have to be able to pick the right person to join you on an extended road trip. That's what happens when Megan enrolled Laura for her "extended trip" of a lifetime. The trip is all about experiences...the good, the bad and the hilarious!

There are some specific items that will never be the same for me after this book: waffles, hot dog buns, funerals and especially yoga! I laughed so hard at times that my side literally hurt.

So, take a trip with these lovely ladies. You won't be disappointed. There are some very explicit situations and language so beware "Your mother may hate it!" according to RL Griffin!

Thanks for a great ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars love this book, awesome read 22 April 2015
By Sarah-Lost in a Book - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I am giving Sunshine & Whiskey a 5 star review for several reasons. I have different reasons behind my 5 star reviews. Sometimes it’s based on the genre, and/or the content. This book has a HEA, but totally not what you would expect from the beginning. It is part of a series but it is not a cliffhanger. It has hot men, and I mean this plural. I am a southern belle, so I love sunshine and whiskey. At times I laughed so hard, people around me were asking if I was okay and other times, I wanted to punch Megan in the face for being so stupid (the main character).

Megan Walker is my hero for so many reasons in this book. I love her “I don’t care what other people think attitude.” She is willing to find herself and completely start over. But will it be with who you think or who you picture her with? I love that this book never allowed me to guess what was next to come. Some books you read, you know from the beginning who you will love, who you want to end up together and how you want their HEA to finalize. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted for Megan, but on her journey through this book, I discovered that nothing I had hoped for her is what she ended up with. At first I felt like it was all over the place I couldn’t figure out why things were so all over the place, but all the information throughout her journey was necessary to explain why and where she is today.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Okay, I’m torn here. I don’t want a calendar of a male model, but one I’ve screwed…maybe.”

“Well, I would suggest that after baths or showers you use your hairdryer to dry your vagina.”

Ok seriously who does this and what kind of advice is that? What is the purpose of using a hairdryer? Why doesn’t a towel work?

There are several others, but I want this to remain spoiler free so I highly recommend this book so you can check out all the awesomeness in it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, this is one road trip you will never forget!! 21 April 2015

Sunshine & Whiskey (Drinking, Part 1) by RL Griffin
4 stars!!

“Maybe you don’t go back, you go somewhere else, but it’s just as good. Maybe even better.”

This book is such a departure from RL Griffin’s usual writing style, so much so I couldn’t wait to read. I had watched her feed for teasers and excerpts and this only added to my own internal hype to get my grubby hands on this romantic comedy. I was also lucky enough to be a beta reader so had watched this book go from strength to strength over the months. RL Griffin has blown me away in the past with her romantic suspense type reads and this book goes to show just how versatile she is and that she can in fact turn her hand to anything she sets her mind to.

I had so many laugh out loud moments and it is rare to go from tears of laughter one minute to tears of sadness the next. There are not too many tears of sadness, but there was one scene that for a softie like me had me choked and bawling, RL Griffin never fails, she always makes me cry!

Megan is an extremely hardworking and successful lawyer, fighting her way to the top of the firm which is always difficult in a man’s world. She has the dedication, ambition, drive and determination and has the respect of her peers, shame the same couldn’t be said about her personal life. After her personal life as she knows it hits the skids she is forced to take a stock of herself and after an impulsive purchase ends up changing her life once again she throws caution to the wind. With her BFF finding herself in a similar situation...what should they do? ROAD TRIP!!

This book is a voyage of discovery for both women, a time to relax and be carefree, a time to find themselves, cherish their friendships and also make new ones. With plenty of man candy on the way as they make their way across country to Napa you cannot help but laugh at their male encounters. Some are hilarious and yet some obviously have deeper meanings and could be just what both girls need.

“...you already mourned the death of you and Peter three years ago. You need to eff through it.”
She gyrates her hips at me. I can’t help but laugh at her antics. “Eff through it?”

I loved the banter in this book; these two had such a fantastic relationship. They could cuss each other one minute, call each other out the next, but no matter what, they always had each other’s back...all the time!

“I love you. Meet me at the casino after you clean your vag.”

I pictured this trip in my head as they plotted and planned and eventually executed their journey. The shenanigans that these two get up to will have you crying with laughter, from scenes that are just too hilarious for words, to scenes that resonate with your inner twelve year old self. This book is beautifully balanced with not only fun and laughter but also the deep and meaningfuls and the underlying messages that you cannot help but feel in your heart.

“Yeah, my heart totally wants to take a step toward him instead of away from him, but then my head says “eff you heart.” My brain says eff me once, shame on you, eff me twice, shame on me.”

Kudos to RL Griffin, she has definitely proven that she can write funny. Some scenes have left me mentally scarred for life (#bluewaffle (DO NOT GOOGLE BLUE WAFFLE SERIOUSLY!!)) and some I will remember for a long long time (#hotdog) and some I think back on, even now and they still make me chuckle (#sipandstretch). Some scenes have even changed my eating habits (#nomorehamsandwich). But even as I am typing this I am laughing away to myself and even though I feel some of the humour was a bit too much for my English brain I still haven’t laughed this much over a book for a long time. I also beg anyone who has read this book to own up and say they can never look at a male cover model in the same way again; I always knew they were too good to be true ;-).

This book would make a great summer read, sipping cocktails, by the pool, in the sun, living the life and reading a hilarious modern Thelma & Louise tale without the crappy ending. This book would also serve as the perfect pick me up after all those dark and disturbing books we are so mad about too. So jump in and join this journey of fun, fresh, frolics and f***s aplenty on this voyage of discovery of friendships, finding yourself and finding love when you least expect it. Join these girls on a road trip you will never forget and will forever relate too.

“This moment feels so big, this day feels like such a deal breaker. The butterflies in my stomach have had families and they are all flying around my gut.”
