Product Description

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith...

Pippa knew her life had all but ended seven months ago, when she answered the phone call no one ever wants to receive: her husband had been in a fatal car accident.

Left physically and mentally disabled, David now sits in a care home while she struggles to keep herself together as she brings up their three kids. And on top of the grief, there's the guilt... she should be there for him, too.

One Christmas alone, one Valentine's, one spring, and now summer's nearly over... Can she face it all again?

Jimmy's known Pippa since before they were teens. Best friends with her younger brother and two years her junior, she's never had eyes for him, and when she fell in love with David, Jimmy finally accepted she would never be his. In fact, he swore off committed relationships altogether, for his path took him down a different route. No one needs to be burdened with the cross he chose to bear.

But his torch for Pippa never went out.

And maybe someone, somewhere, knows it, for words scribbled down and said out loud in a moment of desperation, might just be working their magic, about to shine a light on everything they could have ... if they're prepared to take a leap of faith...

This is the second book in Dianna's heartfelt romance series about loving big, living big, and trusting big. Book one, The Spell of Summer, can be read as a standalone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love....Heartache......A second chance at love makes for a fantastic read! 20 June 2016

Pippa has everything she could ever ask for a nice home and a family, a wonderful husband and three beautiful kids until one night when their lives are torn asunder by one phone call telling her that her husband David has been in a fatal accident. Now she is left when raising three kids on her own. Now she spends her days taking care of her children and her nights alone. Pippa and her children miss David so much but are lucky in that they can visit him at the care home where he lives now.

Pippa has spent the last several months trying to cope with her husband accident and but it has been a hard road to travel. But Pippa has been so lucky in having her parents around to help her with the children. Her parents take the children whenever she needs them to whether she is running an errand or just needs some time to herself. Her parents love her and the children very much and will always be there for them no matter what or how long it takes. Besides they love have their grandchildren stay with them.

Jimmy has loved Pippa from afar for a very long time ever since they were children. Jimmy is Pippa’s brother’s best friend so Jimmy was at their house a lot when they were growing up. Jimmy was there for Pippa when they were teenagers and she broke up with her boyfriend Jimmy was there lending her a shoulder to cry on literally. But Jimmy didn’t mind all he cared about was having Pippa so close. But eventually Jimmy realized that a girl like Pippa was never going to be with a guy like him. So he gave up on Pippa and having a family and a relationship of that kind and chose another path to follow. Without Pippa it would never be the same.

But after Jimmy and Pippa meet again after ten or twelve years all of Jimmy’s love for Pippa resurfaces not that it ever went anywhere; it was always right there with him. But for Pippa she now sees him in a different light and wonders why she is so jealous of him and other women.

Pippa finally sees and recognizes what it is she is feeling for Jimmy but she doesn’t think that she can ever be with Jimmy because her husband is still alive. She thinks that if she loves again and leaves everything behind that she will be betraying David.
Poor Pippa and Jimmy they both want to love each other and be together but they both have so much baggage to bring into a relationship they don’t know if the other one can handle it or if they can ask them too. What will they do? Can they put aside or deal with the baggage that they both are caring around enough to be with each other? Is their love strong enough? Can they ask the other one to deal with their baggage? Would it be fair? What will they do?

I always love reading one of Dianna’s books and meeting all the characters. I think I always learn something when I read one of her books and in the end they always leave me feeling peaceful and thankful for a lot of things even when the ending may blow me away sometimes. I have loved reading about Pippa and Jimmy’s little adventures. I also liked reading about Candy and all the small little sacrifices she made for the people she loved. Candy had a lot of heartache that she had to deal with too but she still would set aside her feelings for the people she loved. I can’t wait for the next book in the Once Times Thrice series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Devoured and loved 19 June 2016

(This book was received from author in exchange for an honest review.)

I loved The Spell of Summer, so needless to say I have been eagerly waiting for book #2 in the Once Times Thrice Series. So when Dianna asked me to beta read Summer’s End she was answered with a, “heck yes.”

I devoured this book in one, tear-filled, sitting.

Like The Spell of Summer, Summer’s End is beautifully written, and full or humour, tenderness, chemistry, and yes, that special touch of magic. The story and the characters are so very real. So very easy to connect with and admire, and I think that is why I love this Series; both books are a perfect reflection of both the beautiful and magical moments in life as well as all the painful ones.

Pippa is a fighter. She has had her world torn apart and although she feels stuck, unable to move because of the giant U-turn fate has done on her, she is trying so hard to be brave and to do the right thing for her children. She is hurting, and second guessing, and unsure, and thinking and feeling things any person would in her situation, but she is strong and sassy and even though she doesn’t feel like she will ever make it, or be happy again, you know she will.
Pippa’s children are ace, and her parents are sweet and funny.

I fell in love with Jimmy from the start. He is quick-witted, funny, caring, easy to talk to, gets along with anyone, and yes, sounds damn delicious to look at. He is loveable and sweet as well as being sexy and strong. He puts others before himself, he is so selfless, and god, when he is filling Pippa in on his past and how he got to be where he is now... my heart broke for him.
There are moments, events, in people’s lives that could break them, could change them, but Jimmy didn’t let that happen to himself. He remained the caring, thoughtful, tender, beautiful soul that he is, and you can’t help but respect and love him.

We see more of Candy in this book and I really feel for the woman, she is kinda in purgatory at the moment and has no idea what is going to happen after the inevitable outcome, but the way the book ended has given me hope that it will be very different from what she even thinks might happen. Sorry to be cryptic, but I don’t want to give anything away.

All the Characters in this series could very well be your next door neighbours, friends, or even relatives; their stories could happen, and their reactions are so real. And that is what I love about these stories; they are raw and so very real, and filled with hope.

I find myself wondering about my own life and wants after reading the books in this series, and personally, I think stories which make you think and feel, well, they are stories you keep with you; refer to when your own world seems bleak.

Heartfelt, warm, and full of hope for the future, Summer’s End was everything I hoped it would be and more. I’m so happy that I got to beta read this book, and I hope there will be more books in this beautiful and magical series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Romance 16 August 2016

Summer's End is a stunning second-chance romance with a touch of something special. The plot development and characters are so beautifully created and cast that it was impossible not to fall into this book and fall in love with everything about it.

Pippa and Jimmy... I have such a soft spot for them. Their pasts, personalities, and growth enabled their characters to come to life. Admittedly, I fell for Jimmy hard. All that in mind, this series is one to fall in love with. Offering escapism, emotional depth, and HEA, readers will be desperate for more.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Read! 7 July 2016

This is the second book in the Once Twice Thrice series. I absolutely loved it!

Pippa is a wonderful character. She is Jamie's sister and was only briefly introduced in The Spell of Summer. Therefore, I was eager to get to know her better. She is married to David who, after a terrible accident eight months previously, is now living in a care home due to his injuries. They have three children, Liam (10), Sammy (7) and Becca (4). Trying to cope with the demands of her young family, and her guilt about her husband's accident, Pippa finds herself being drawn to her younger brother's best friend, Jimmy.

Jimmy is a fantastic character. I really liked him. He's not had an easy life and getting to know his past made me admire him for doing what he had to in order to survive. He has always had a crush on Pippa, but knew that her heart belonged to David. When Pippa unexpectedly lands back into his life, Jimmy is determined to be there for her as a friend if need be. However, his attraction to her is as strong as ever and there's no going back, even if it leads to heartbreak.

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book. I knew that I would be on a HUGE emotional roller coaster with this story, so before I started reading it, I stocked up on tissues. I am glad I did!

This is a hard review to write, as it is extremely difficult to not put in spoilers!! Therefore, in an effort not to gush, I have decided to keep this one short.

Although Pippa and Jimmy are the main focus of the story and the reader gets to see their points of view, Candy North's (Merri's best friend) story is told along side. I loved this, as it allowed me to see not only their thoughts and feelings but hers too. Pippa and Jimmy's attraction fairly sizzles on the page. They make a wonderful couple. But it was the beach scene with Jimmy and Liam that really tugged at my heart. I knew that Jimmy was a good man, but that scene made me fall for him myself.

The story kept me enthralled from beginning to end. The author has such a way with words that they pull you into the story and make you feel like you are living in it. The characters are extremely lifelike, full of flaws and insecurities. I love how relatable they are, even if you haven't had the same experience, you can empathize with them. My heart broke at every set back and flew at every hope and joy.

I reached the end of the book with bitter-sweet emotions; I don't know if there will be another book in the series. Although it doesn't finish on a cliffhanger, the author has left it ambiguous. I hope there will be another book, but only time will tell.

Dianna Hardy has written a wonderful contemporary romance with a magical twist. I love her fast paced writing style and the flow of the story was wonderful. I am a huge fan of this author's work. Her characters are lifelike, likable, and sexy.

As this story has a few scenes of a sensual nature that are a bit on the explicit side, I do not recommend this book to readers under 17. However, I highly recommend this book if you love contemporary or paranormal romance. - Lynn Worton
5.0 out of 5 stars Summer's End is the second story in Dianna Hardy's beautiful Once Times Thrice series 27 August 2016

Summer's End is the second story in Dianna Hardy's beautiful Once Times Thrice series.
This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2016 and it definitely lived up to my expectations!
Dianna has a way of making you connect with the characters in her stories so that when they laugh you laugh, they cry you cry. So while reading this my emotions were all over the place!
Summer's End is Jimmy's story just as much as it is Pippa's! Jimmy is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with and help root for! As much as I love Pippa, I would never wish to switch her places. The choices she must make are ones no one should ever have to. My heart constantly ached for her!
Candy and her relationship are strongly in the background of this story continuing from the first book. She is another character my
heart aches for...and when we get to see her story completely told I'm positive my emotions will be all over the place again!
I definitely recommend this for anyone who loves a beautiful story with just a hint of magic!

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for a honest review.
