I ordered this series because I love To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I actually couldn’t get past the first couple of chapters. Partly because a plot line about a sick mom was triggering for me, but partly just because the writing wasn’t anywhere near as good as Han’s later work. This is to be expected really - no judgement! We all evolve and grow as artists and I STILL love TATBILB, but I can’t really recommend this one. (I still love Jenny Han though!)

I adored book one, literally couldn't put it down and was so sad when it ended. I really liked book 2 though did miss the summer house setting and everything that the house represented. And found book 3 a let down.

I think the main problem was that how Jenny Han ended book 2 she was always going to have to do something significant to create drama, otherwise there would be no book 3. Unfortunately she doesn't do this well enough and ends up changing the characters so much that you don't feel as if you are reading about the same people anymore. Such a disappointment.

I am sure some readers will love the ended but personally I didn't. I will re-read books 1 and 2 over and over again, but won't pick book 3 up again for a while.

This is a pretty and engaging series, telling the story of Belly and her tangled relationship with two brothers over a number of years. I loved Belly's point of view as she grows up through the three books but although I couldn't put the story down I wanted more from it overall. The "a couple of years later" jumps seem like a way to skim over important parts of the character development and the reader is forced to accept the changes that have happened in the missing pieces of the story. Nevertheless, an enjoyable read and one I would recommend.

I'm a fan of Jenny Han, so I was excited to read this series. I loved the character of belly throughout the books and found the chapters dedicated to the Fischer boys thoughts (in the 2nd and 3rd book) drew me more into the book. In all honesty, my favourite book was the 1st, but I would recommend the whole series.
