I'm torn with this book. I loved the first part where they spent time together at the beach. I could have read a whole book situated right there. When it moved on to two of them going back to their usual lives, it changed a little for me. It became all tense and choppy (Sky putting up so much of a fight it seemed she didn't even like Dylan anymore, then still jumping into bed with him) and I didn't find myself enjoying being in their world.
That said, the writing is of good quality and the story moves at a decent pace. The characters are well developed and the dialogue is natural and realistic.
And one particular scene I want to point out is when Sky first stumbles onto Jem while she's trying to navigate the hallways of the mansion. I really felt the tension there and as a reader wanted to push Sky out of the room and toward safety. That scene came across as intimidating and real for me.
As a whole it's an entertaining read, and there's enough going on there that it makes me want to continue on to find out what happens to all the characters.

Summer Sky: A Blue Phoenix Book by Lisa Swallow and I gave 5 bright stars
I loved how these two met, it was so perfect that summer and what a rock god Dylan is, they both are fighting demons but his kisses are like heaven. I wish they could have stayed at the beach forever, blocking out the rest of the world, but then we wouldn't have had the damn cliffhanger we did. This story shows the difference of 2 worlds and how love tries to beat all but his past is to strong, the guys from the band seem to be spiralling out of control, I can't wait to continue this story, June can not come fast enough, amazing Lisa 5 Bright rainbows stars from me.

WOW! Lisa Swallow more than delivers with this first instalment 'Summer Sky' in the Blue Phoenix series!
You, the reader, are immediately drawn in and totally invested in the two lead characters Sky and Dylan. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!!
You have two people running from the turmoil that is their lives. A Rock God who's burnt out and frustrated that his life/career is no longer his own and a women who's heartbroken by her boyfriends betrayal and subsequent break up.
This book is exceptionally well written and I say this because I laughed, cried, got angry, was heartbroken and felt extremely frustrated with Sky and Dylan's budding romance. I just wanted to butt their heads together (especially Sky) and say 'Get it together!' Ugh!!!! As the reader you KNOW they're perfect for each other but circumstances keep getting in their way.
Only an exceptional writer can wring so many emotions out of the reader!
THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL LADIES!!!
A tortured Rock God (who's used to women throwing themselves at him) and a strong 'REAL' women who doesn't know who he is, has got a sassy mouth and isn't afraid to be herself!
Cannot wait to read the rest of this series 😍😍😍

Oh my ..Lisa Swallow can do no wrong.
I adore this book right from Sky and Dylan's first encounter I knew I'd be binge reading the entire series. And I did just that.
Though Sky's insecurities annoyed me a little Dylan more than makes up for it..He's hot, he's famous ..he's a rock God and damn I want one of him for myself.
Be warned once you start you won't put it down 5 stars from me

Ok so this first book has sucked me and I will purchase the second one. I liked the overall idea of the book but felt it was a little long and drawn and at times Sky sounded like a whiney teenager yes she had been screwed over by her ex but is there any need to be so snarky and judgemental to those you don't know and Dylan I get being a star has to be cautious but there's caut and there's being over cautious. For all its faults this was also good.

Isn't it the best thing when you read a book by an author you haven't read before, and you love it so much you then stalk all her sites! It's like finding treasure, and you just want to keep finding more treasure by then reading all the other books they've written. Lisa Swallow is said treasure, and i loved summer sky. Such an entertaining read, and loved that it was not your typical love story. Sky made this man work...and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Dylan was hot!
I can't wait for the rest of the series, and now am off to buy more of Lisa's other books.

I loved the fact Sky had no idea who Dylan was when she first met him.
As I read I start to feel sorry for Dylan and admire Sky's willpower in not checking out who he really is...could I have done that...to be honest I'm not sure!
Steve is so busy looking after himself all he cares about is Blue Phoenix and what the band can do for him. .
I don't like Kim and can't stand Honey it becomes obvious, at least to me they are both like Steve.
I feel sorry for Jem and how the past has effected his life and his way of thinking now
My only problem now is having to wait until June before I can read Falling Sky (Blue Phoenix #2) to see what happens with Sky and Dylan.
Another great read by Lisa Swallow.

A HOLIDAY ROMANCE THAT LEADS TO MORE
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 December 2018Verified Purchase
Oh boy, This book frustrated the heck out of me!
Dylan and Skye first meet when Dylan runs into the back of Skye's car when she is on her way to her Grandmothers holiday let to get away from it all, not only is things going from bad to worse but the arrogant guy wearing shades and driving an expensive car really rubs her up the wrong way. When he reaches for his glove compartment, Skye takes off thinking he could have a gun.
Skye arrives at the holiday let ready to unwind and relive some of her childhood memories in the place she loved as a child then she discovers her Grandmother has booked the cottage out and it's none other than the arrogant guy she has just fled from.
An interesting start, I was intrigued, Dylan is also hoping to get away from it all, he isn't nursing a break up like Skye but he claims he needs a break in the place where he also used to stay with his family as a boy.
Dylan and Skye come to a compromise and agree to stay at the cottage together and re-live their childhood memories.
Dylan is a famous rock-star and it's refreshing that Skye doesn't even know who he is, he can be himself which is something he hasn't been able to be in a long time.
Dylan and Skye are brought together by fate, two people who have the same childhood memories, two people who just want to discover who they are again.
The chemistry between Skye and Dylan was undeniable but once Skye found out who Dylan was and the life he leads, all her barriers were up and it was like a game of cat and mouse. Skye really frustrated me at times she was so indecisive and judgemental and also a little bit of a prude.
The push and pull kept me turning the pages, the on the off, the denial of feelings then the confession of feelings. Dylan was upfront about how he felt and Skye was just a bundle of indecision.
I would read book two, no doubt it will be the same on/off push and pull again, but I would like to see how it goes. The rest of the series I will have to see about that, none of the band members have given me cause to want to read their story's yet, Dylan doesn't even have a bond or seem to get on with them so that I will also have to see how it goes in the next book.
We written, set in the U.K SUMMER SKYE is a story that starts as a getaway, holiday romance and leads to more.
Told in first person dual pov. This is my first book by this author and although I felt it was ling and some things dragged on a bit I would definitely read more from Lisa Swallow.

First of all I'll start by saying I'm always a bit apprehensive of reading books set in the UK, I have absolutely no idea why seeing as I live here but I liked what I had read on the blurb so I decided to start it. Well let me tell you it was so different to what I've read recently, it wasn't the typical rock star romance and the characters weren't your typical drippy girl that accepts the rock star she loves is a total tart and puts up with women draping themselves all over him. She is strong and makes decisions for herself. I did want to kill Lisa a bit when I got to the end of the book but thank god we only have to wait till June for the follow up. I would like to point out I cancelled my Saturday evening plans to finish the book so don't start it when you have arrangements haha!

Summer sky is book #1 in the Blue Phoenix series.
This is the first book I have read by this author, but it definitely won't be the last.
I grabbed Summer Sky when it was free on Amazon and I'm so glad I did.
I really enjoyed this book it is almost a book of two halves. The first half is sweet and innocent and the style is youthful and exuberant.
Two virtual strangers connecting over childhood memories. I love the connection between Sky and Dylan they are cute yet the sexual tension is undeniable.
They manage to go from ice cream and shell hunting to passion and panty dampening kisses in the blink of an eye.
I have to say that this couple bicker like an old married couple but it felt more like they had known each other forever and knew how to push one another's buttons.
In the second half of the book everything gets a lot more grown up!!!
From the moment they leave the beach the whole tone of the book changes and a darker tension settled on the characters and their dialogue.
Dylan in the real world is broken and world weary. I went from swooning over how sexy he was to feeling maternal and wanting to give him a hug.
It actually made me really sad to see how the fame and pressure affects Dylan, his whole persona changed.
You may disagree but I feel like Sky was a bit mean!!!! I know that Dylan is used to getting what he wants but how could she be so cold to his sad little puppy dog eyes.
This book does show how in this day and age social media is used to manipulate public perception. Dylan is an underhanded sly little monkey but I heart him too much to be too mean.
Blue Phoenix are like a walking advert for not taking drugs, I didn't feel like any of the other band members were actually real as there constantly drugged up. I kind of like the juxtaposition of the cliché bad boy, drugged up rock band and Dylan desperately trying to escape from the fame merry go round
Jem is actually a bit creepy, every time he appeared I was super uncomfortable. I'm not sure if he is just truly evil or maybe just so buried under a shed load of hate and anger. Whatever it is I'm not a fan!!!
How could the book end like that!!! Lily is obviously lying or manipulating the truth because I just don't believe it!!!
I'm going straight into Falling Sky now I’ve got to find out what happens next
Summer Sky gets 4.5 stars from me!!

A whirlwind of romance and excitement with famous bad boys!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2014Verified Purchase
I was extremely lucky to be a beta reader for this book, and feel as if I have followed the characters journey for quite a while, and have loved every part of it.
Sky Davis is the down to earth, straight talking girl from next door. She's naturally gorgeous and has an equally natural personality. After being cheated on by her lame and lacking boyfriend of 5 years, she decides it's time to take a break. Leaving her home, ex boyfriend and job. She heads down to her childhood retreat for some thinking time. 1 car bump and crazy misunderstanding with cottage double bookings later. Sky has met 'The' Dylan Morgan. Although Sky has no idea that Dylan Morgan is the frontman for rock band Blue Phoenix, and that Dylan is also running and hiding in his childhood retreat too. So begins a sweet and funny meeting that grows into intense, hot chemistry in their holiday bubble. Away from the world they both have ran from.
Right from the beginning, I loved Sky. She's quirky and feisty and so normal you can't help but love her. The one liners she always manages to throw back at a shocked then secretly smitten Dylan, are so quick and sarcastic it's perfect.
"A dog ran out in front of me"
He looks into the road. "What dog?"
"The dog's not here now. I don't think the dog realised it needed to be a material witness and ran off" I narrow my eyes at him and he deliberately looks me up and down.
Dylan is the typical hot and brooding Rock star to start with, but after spending time with Sky, he soon starts coming out of his moping mood and starts to remember how to live.
"The water's bloody cold!" I step back and rub the water off my arms. "How can you stand swimming in this?"
"Because it makes me feel alive! Free. I'd forgotten how awesome this place is. I can breathe again."
Dylan's half talking to himself, I can't help but smile too. His happy enthusiasm is contagious.
The time spent at the cottage is charming and sweet, yet the undercurrent of building feelings makes all the moments really exciting. Waiting to see what they do.
Of course this dream bubble has to eventually burst. Sky has avoided looking to see who Dylan really is and after a glimpse at the real Dylan one day, she decides to take a look. Everything turns up a notch after that and it all goes from sweet yet steamy holiday crushes to intense real life with a harsh inside view of a rock star life, with stalking tendencies and ugly bad secrets waiting to come out. A week hiding in a secluded holiday cottage, indulging in a holiday crush soon becomes a distant memory for Sky and Dylan, but one that will stay with them forever.
There is a huge change halfway through when they come back to the 'real world' and you get to know the real Dylan and the people he spends his life and time with. Some very colourful characters and all pretty memorable.
What I really loved about Summer Sky is how you go from characters that are so like real people, people you can relate to and laugh along with.....
"Is this your underwear?"
I snap my eyes open, spilling my wine as I jump to my feet. Psycho-sexy driver stands at the bottom of the stairs with a pair of my knickers hanging off his long fingers. Not even nice underwear. The sort reserved for unsexy times of the month.
To the gorgeous, fantasy characters that I love to read about in my book escapism. There's so much going on in this book and it's all entertaining and addictive to read. Part sweet and easy to read romance, part rock star sexiness story. A mixture for everyone. Plus knowing the story continues on in a series is even better. There is so many characters I want to see more of and so much more to find out about. It will be exciting to go back to the Blue Phoenix world again.
A very justified and well earned 5 shiny stars!

GOOD SOLID STORY
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2015Verified Purchase
This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I was suitably impressed. I am now on to the 3rd book in this series and I cant' put them down!!! Like another reader, I am not too keen on reading books set in the U.K. even though I am British myself (odd, yes I know!) but it does have some American theme which pleased me and it reminded me of the Kellan and Keira story after they have got together because it's very much based on the theme of the 'ordinary down to earth' girl called Sky and the famous rock star called Dylan with them both trying to merge their two very different lives together with lots of angst along the way. So there is lots of drama in this story which I love, along with passion and jealousy, another thing that has me hooked. I also like the fact that Sky wasn't impressed with Dylan the rock star but wanted to get to know just the man and his Welsh background. The only slight annoying factor in this book was how they first meet, as I found that a bit far fetched with them meeting on a Country road in the middle of nowhere after he bumps her car and then proceed to meet a few hours later at a house they are both staying at! What are the chances of that? So I did find that a bit silly. But that put aside, it has kept me hooked from beginning to end and I'm glad there is a second book to read about Sky and Dylan. Plus there are more books about the other band members so I'm excited about reading them too.
