Product Description

  • SUCH WICKED FRIENDS is the 3rd novel in this popular women sleuths mystery series.
~ Sometimes friends are deadlier than enemies. ~ Sandy Reid runs into a problem of the dead kind and soon the police want her to butt out, the State Attorney wants her disbarred, and the killer wants her dead. Not the best situation for a brand new lawyer who's trying to live down a reputation for being sassy and reckless.
Fresh from passing the Florida bar exam she stumbles over a potential client--shot between the eyes. She believes the murdered woman is begging her to find the killer. How else to explain the mysterious spot of blood Sandy later discovers on her own hand? She begins a personal vendetta to find the killer. Her new law partner, Martin, joins in to help and although he has a more intimate partnership in mind, he's not the one she becomes interested in. In any case, she doesn't intend to stray from her hunky detective lover--or does she?

Each book in this female protagonist mystery series is a stand-alone novel following the exciting adventures of Sandy Reid:
  • One Deadly Sister
  • The Price of Candy
  • Such Wicked Friends
  • Chasing Suspect Three
  • Alive After Friday
  • Into the Heat

4.0 out of 5 stars She also strives to stay on the good side of her partner 23 April 2015

SUCH WICKED FRIENDS by Rod Hoisington. In this third book of the Sandy Reid series, Hoisington gets his mojo back. Wicked, starts off slowly, maybe even boringly, but at about the 30 percent point, Sandy, our sassy heroin with her newly minted law license turns the justice system in the small Florida town of Park Beach upside down. The story opens with Sandy’s partner, Martin, receiving a phone call from a potential client asking him to meet her in the courtyard of a condominium complex at eight o’clock that evening. Martin hands off the potential client to Sandy who shows up on time only to find the client sitting in a chair in the middle of the courtyard with a bullet hole in her forehead and a manila envelope in her lap. Sandy keeps the story moving at warp speed trying to stay ahead of her nemesis, State Attorney Lawrence Moran, who wants to put her in jail and throw away the key. She also strives to stay on the good side of her partner, Martin, while keeping her boyfriend local detective Chip Goddard happy. The last half of the book is fast paced and holds the reader’s interest.
Recommend the book and give it a rating of 4-stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to more Sandy Reid 24 March 2015

I chose to continue reading this series after I purchased the first one in e-book for .99. Sandy Reid is a likeable young lawyer and sometimes sleuth. She seems to be a little scattered at times, but always makes her point, whether it be to her friend Martin, the State Attorney who is always out to 'get her' or to her boy friend cop, Chip. Sandy Reid is smart, and tenacious in her search for the truth even when she makes mistakes of great proportions, ones it seems she'll never straighten out (oh but she does) . I also like the fact this series is set in FL

5.0 out of 5 stars He Did It Again! 28 February 2013

Rod Hoisington is an absolute Master with his mystery/thriller books - starring Sandy Reid. In this book she has just passed the Florida Bar Exam, and quickly finds herself cross-wise with her perpetual nemesis, D.A. Moran after she accidently tampers with evidence at a murder scene. The book is filled with jealous spouses, affairs, suspicions and Sandy's usual smart-mouth comments. She continues to find the right "buttons to push" - often using a bluff or "fast curve ball". Another great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Hoisington does it again ... 30 October 2011

The third book in the Sandy Reid series is just as captivating as the first two ... once I started reading it, I had trouble putting it down ... the only draw back is that Mr. Hoisington can not write them as fast as I can read them. Highly recommended if you like mysteries with female protagonists.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a character! 7 March 2013

A new young lawyer with spunk and integrity finds herself the target of officials she's embarrassed and brought to task in the past. So, when she comes upon a murder victim and without thinking, touches evidence, this official is out to disbar her. The events leading up to and surrounding the murder are too much for her to ignore;so she just keeps digging.
Great characters; easy to follow plot development; curious twists:and a satisfying ending had me reading this in one day.
