Product description

Product Description

Beautifully illustrated on every page in dramatic detail, Stunt Crow will excite young children and adults alike. It is film-like. A glimpse above the clouds. A new manga for the oldest of subjects.

Stunt Crow is the story of one crow on one day. A literal bird’s eye view of avian acrobatics. Nature in its clearest magical beauty, wild and fast moving. Scenes that would be familiar to the first humans, unchanged and ever present. This is a story for children and adults. For anyone who looks up at the sky and especially for those who don’t. This is a fresh look at nature, an alternative to talking rabbits, singing frogs, happy dogs and cats with hats, though we love all the above. Stunt Crow shows that sometimes nature doesn’t need dressing up and that if we stand and stare, we can find wonder there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for the wee ones - wonderful story and amazing illustrations! 12 April 2014

We have visitors coming over this weekend with their 8 and 10 year old daughters. I download this at the recommendation of my friend, and as one who checks out even children’s books prior to sitting down for storytime, I read through this. I am a speed reader and found the story to be inspirational. And wow, was I ever impressed by the artistry and powerful illustrations.

Living on the water, we delight at watching the various species of birds, and initially I thought I’d read this after a day on the lake to relax the girls for bedtime. Now I’m thinking this book will arouse their attention and have them asking questions into the night. Delightful crow!

I found the story compelling and should the girls have anything more specific to add, I’ll report back to let you know if this age group is as delighted by the prose and artwork as I. I’m recommending not only to riends with young children, but to anyone interested in nature and animals.
2.0 out of 5 stars CRAZY book 30 April 2014

very short book about a crow. what can I say.
This is more like a short cartoon or maybe something a school teacher could read to her class when she has 5 minutes to spare. I'm sure they would be worried for the crow.
5.0 out of 5 stars Resilience never looked so good. 1 April 2014

This exquisite meditation on resilience comes disguised as a beautifully-illustrated children's book, and while children will certainly enjoy the excitement of David Freedman's tale and the appealing, movement-laced artwork by Mike Kelly, it is adults who may be most satisfied by Stunt Crow's challenges and triumphs. "He is back, and he is bold," Freedman writes, and we find ourselves grinning. Perhaps we, too, can survive life's angry eagles -- not unscathed, but defiant. Delightful, alive, and carrying a quiet but powerful message.

I read Stunt Crow to my twins granddaughters last night and they adored the captivating story and dynamic illustrations. I recommend it, and love that it takes children into the great outdoors for a nice change of pace offering an appreciation of wildlife and the environment that factors into their struggles for surviving. Kudos to the author and illustrator. Terrific job!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great detail on art work 12 April 2014

The art is great...the crow and eagle look so real. But it is all ink drawings. The grandkids did not sit through it. There was not enough to the story to hold their attention. But given the fact that the grandkids would not sit though it. I consider this story to be a little older then their age group. No fault of the story, just my buying choice.
