Product Description

There is a fine line between love and madness, between insanity and pure evil.

This is Michael West at his terrifying best! From heart-stopping horror to the strangest of fantasies — these are tales from the darkest regions of his twisted imagination! All the usual tropes are here — vampires and shapeshifters, ghosts and witches, gods and monsters, mummies and zombies — but none of them are exactly what you would expect...

A dream vacation takes a nightmarish turn when a couple finds they did not come home alone...

A man agrees to a meeting with his estranged wife and learns the horrible, obscene truth of the old saying: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...”

An American platoon, cut off from the outside world, discovers an unbelievable enemy they were never trained to fight...

And a man struggling with depression and grief receives text messages from beyond the grave, messages that push him to the edge of sanity...and beyond...

Ten more reasons to say your prayers.

Ten more reasons to check beneath your bed.

Ten more reasons why you may never want to close your eyes again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Collection of Spooky Stories 8 October 2014
By Kathryn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Michael West has done it again! This is a wonderful collection of short stories with the theme of insanity and is the person in the story headed to a straightjacket.

The first story in the collection is Don't Let the Bedbugs Bite, which was a great tale with African folklore and a vampire story, I really felt for the main character and felt what he was going through.

Flowers in Winter, is a great story leaving the reader questioning what happened at the end, and which person was the crazier one. This story involves a old house with two lovers and a dark secret, I wish it was a little bit longer I overall enjoyed it.

The next story is called The Grove, about an husband wanting a divorce from his garden obsessed wife, after he'd moved on from her and the consequences of those actions

Sandwalkers is a story about a troop in another country and what lies waiting, it involves more mythology which I enjoyed reading about and learning more about it. I liked this story but it wasn't my overall favorite.

In Vino Veritas, is a great story involving Eliot Ness and the Untouchable, Al Capone and a bunch of Greek mythological figures. I really enjoyed this story, I would love to have more of Eliot Ness' adventures with the supernatural.

For the River is Wide and the Gods are Hungry, this story takes place in Harmony, Indiana, as a part of Michael West's series of the same name. This is tied for my favorite story in the series and reminds me that Harmony is a place I would not like to live.

Masako's Tale is also a very good story that is a twisted love story that has a great Asian mythological feel.

Hell's Hollow was great in my opinion it had a wonderful western feel with a conspiracy feel, I really felt bad for the Sheriff and his arch-rival by the end of it.

Inner Goddess, is another of my favorites in the collection, I loved the Egyptian mythology and that this had a great girl power theme.

Unknown Call is the story that finishes the collection and does not disappoint, it has a wonderfully creepy feel and the ending leaves the reader a little grossed out. I could really feel for the husband that wanted to reconnect with his dead wife.

Overall I really liked this collection, each story was strong and even the stories that weren't my favorite were still really good. I can't wait for more from Michael West.
