Product description

Product Description

This anthology aims to be a showcase of recent indie writing.

Hugh Howey launched the idea on Kboards, a forum for Kindle readers, but also the meeting place of an active community of indie writers.

The result is this anthology of 101 very short stories by 101 authors.

To make it more attractive for you, the reader, we set ourselves a limit of a thousand words. You should be able to read each story in under five minutes — on your desktop computer, laptop, or tablet at home or in the office, but also on your smartphone, on the go, while you are commuting or waiting at a coffee shop for your significant other to arrive.

We included as many genres as we could. We hope that maybe, with only five minutes of your time on the line that would otherwise be wasted anyway, you'll be tempted to venture outside your comfort zone and try out some new genres and new authors.

Stories on the Go was a pleasant surprise. The short stories deal with one concept, well developed and brought to a satisfying conclusion. Each story has an unexpected twist, as in Buck Hunt, where the bride shoots her groom accidentally or Purple Passion in which Honey wants to find out the depth of her lover's feelings. Each story has a short profile of the author which is an interesting addition to the stories. I found these stories easy to read and enjoyable, if on occasion, confronting. These will keep you reading until the end.

Ya know those beer flights or samples you try at a new brewpub before you order a pint or two of your favorites? That's what this book is...little sips of each author's style. ...some excellent brewers - err, authors - here. :-) Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good authors in this book. 20 December 2014

This anthology is from a unique group of authors. They will have you laughing and crying and occassionally scare you and a couple of stories will make you go oh wow. It is a bunch of little stories to entertain you. Each story only takes about 5 minutes to read.
All the authors have other longer books. Try this book and I am almost positive you will find one or two new authors to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be in everyone's library 29 December 2014

How can you go wrong. 101 flash fiction stories. I can read one or several while waiting at the doctor's office. I'm just going through it, little by little. Already enjoying almost every single story I've read so far. Amazing, how much variety and creativity and storytelling magic can be had in just 1000 words. Should be in everyone's library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as Described 29 December 2014
By P.T. Krieg - Published on Amazon.com

The description provided by the editor tells you exactly what you're getting; a wide shotgunning of literature sized for rapid consumption. This is both its chief strength (easy to get into and back out of, good for short periods of waiting, etc) and it's main weakness (a significant amount of text may not be your cup of tea). Genre-wise, romance and fantasy are well represented, along with some more narrow genres, like steampunk, gay romance and urban fantasy.
