Undercover...or under the covers...?
Undercover... Undercover vice cop Russell Bridger hates his new assignment doing surveillance on the home of a suspected traitorous spy. That is, until he receives orders to cozy up to the man’s sweet, beautiful neighbor...and find a way to move in with her for the duration. But things don’t go as smoothly—or seductively—as he’d hoped when she tells him she hates cops with a passion and wants nothing to do with him, his lies, or his damn assignment.
Or under the covers...? Cops in Mary Alice Flannery’s family keep dying, and she doesn’t think she can take another shot to her heart. So when the infinitely sexy road crew guy she’s crushing on big time turns out to embody her worst nightmare, she must decide what kind of future she and lonely, or wild and dangerous but filled with love?

Stop in the Name of Love is my first book by the author and immediately after reading I headed to her Goodread's page to add at least half of her library to my TBR.

This is a romantic suspense with a sexy cop, a reluctant heroine and a whole lot of chemistry.
A slightly conservative pre-school teacher who has an aversion to dating cops, she refuses to get involved with them at all.
An undercover cop who finds himself wanting to get involved with her even though he knows why she doesn't want anything to do with cops.
It had everything I was looking for and then some. The story flows well, is well written and edited and definitely piqued my interest in the authors other works.

I loved this book! Fast paced romantic suspense at its best - it has everything: a hot undercover cop and frightened and demure preschool teacher that cannot stand to be around cops. Through necessity of circumstance, they are forced together and what follows is a wonderful story that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. Add in some very hot sex scenes that might be the sexiest I've ever read without being coarse or crude and you have a winning combination.

While this is the first book I've read by this author, it will not be the last. I've added her to my must read authors' list. This one is a must read for romantic suspense fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable! 10 November 2015

Stop in the Name of Love by Nina Bruhns is a quick yet enjoyable read. The characters were honest, conflicted at the right moments, and passionate.

Mary Alice has a rule she follows. No cops! Her favorite uncle, her fiancée, and finally her father were all cops. They were killed. Because of this, she wants nothing do with cops. This is understandable and completely honest on her part. After losing that many loved ones, I probably wouldn’t want nothing to do with cops again either.

Bridge is undercover. He needs Mary Alice to offer up her home to him so he can spy on her neighbor. Unfortunately he gets close to Mary Alice while pretending to be someone he’s not. When she does find out he’s a cop, the situation isn’t pretty and they both have to find a way to work together. What they don’t count on is falling in love with each other. But falling in love is only half the battle. Bridge has a promise to keep and Mary Alice is scared to death of losing another person she loves.

“Death could find you anytime, anywhere.”

The emotions felt real and the characters were interesting. A solid 4 stars.

Mary Alice comes from a family of cops. She has experienced real tragedy in her life when she lost first her uncle, then her fiance, and finally her father to the job. Bridge, after watching his own mother's suffering as the wife of a cop has decided that happy ever after with a wife and kids isn't for him. When they meet while Bridge is undercover, they are drawn to each other with a need they've never known before. Sexual tension, sweet and sexy romance, and danger are all part of this story. I loved Bridge and Mary Alice and I completely enjoyed this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I absolutely adored this quirky little romance from Nina Bruhns and I’m so glad I requested it at the last minute! It might have been a late pick to review, but it’s been one of my favorites to read. Thanks, Ignite!

Mary Alice has had it with loving cops. She lost her uncle early in life; then three years ago, she’d lost her fiance Jack and then, a few weeks later, her dad. It’s too hard to live a man who might not come home. Luckily, she’s got her handy dandy life plan to follow for happiness and believe me, not being a cop is high on her list of qualifications for her life partner. But a road construction worker? That’s who she’s been ogling the last few days? Really?

Has it come to this?

Russell Bridger knows better than to mix business with pleasure–especially in undercover surveillance. But when his boss tells him he’s got to get into Mary Alice’s house so he can watch her neighbor Charlie, he’s got no choice. He can’t give away his real identity, so he’s got to flirt and pretend to want a relationship as Bridge the construction worker. Unfortunately pretending comes easily since he’s actually very attracted to her–too much, really. What’s he going to do when things heat up? When she finds out the truth, she’s going to kill him.

And he knows he’s not good enough for her, especially since his mother had made him promise that as long as he was a cop, he wouldn’t get involved with a woman and break her heart if he got killed. His mother’s stress over his dad’s job had caused her stroke–he just knew it.

In Ms Bruhns’s hands, this “learn to let go” romance runs the gamut of emotions, taking the reader on a rollercoaster ride of sad then mad then glad with a couple of stops in between for some lusciously hot sex and some suspenseful scenes that fooled even me! Great new romance I really enjoyed reading–thanks!
