Product Description

Rie Warren delivers a steamy, humorous romance with one hell of an alpha male bad boy.

Hell on wheels meets hell in high heels.

Bad boy mechanic Josh Stone likes to get his hands dirty any way he can—the filthier, the better. Ever since his wife walked out on him and their young son, he’s only had room in his heart for two loves: the kid and cars.

Roped into playing his best buddy’s gay boyfriend during a romance writers convention, the player meets the girl who’s gonna rock his world. Leelee Songchild. Shy, bashful, beautiful Leelee who blushes at the drop of a hat yet writes hardcore smut to rival Josh’s backlist of Penthouse Forum.

The only problem is his hands are tied. Josh can’t stab his old friend/fake lover in the back even though all he wants to do is take luscious Leelee to bed, and maybe, love her. When the truth comes out, all hell breaks loose.

Too bad romance is just for books.

This is the first book I've read from this author and I liked it a lot. This book is told only from the male POV, I haven't read to many from only the male POV before and I was pleasantly surprised. I was worried he would come across a bit to feminine for my taste, especially given the plot, but the author did a great job with plenty of laugh out loud moments. What stopped it from being 5 stars for me was the excessive use of jargon talk, made it a bit difficult, though I'll defiantly be continuing the series.

Read first chapter bought the whole series!!

I really enjoyed this easy to follow completely filled story with everything, some great characters, hot sexy scenes and some laughs.

Josh is one hot alpha and he hits it off with Leelee immediately.

I enjoyed their interactions and loved seeing their relationship develop.

Leelee is a hoot and I loved her strength and her ability to put Josh on edge. She dealt with Josh's son beautifully.

I loved that this was from Josh's perspective told in his voice it was actually a really nice change.

All up a great read I couldn't put it down and I really look forward to continuing on with the series.

~this review may contain minor spoilers~

No way in hell was I ever letting anyone in enough to walk out on me or break the kid's heart again. No way was I going to risk the small slice of a comfortable life I'd carved for us through sheer hard work and long, long hours. But that didn't mean I didn't take care of business.

Josh Stone gave up on the idea of love when his wife disappeared into the night leaving him and their son in the dust without a second thought. A year and a half later and the only involvement he has with women is his weekly one-night stands to take care of business; aside from that, his life revolves around his three year old son JJ, and his garage. He works hard to provide for his son and has no desire to bring another woman into his home just so she can ditch them too. But when he agrees to attend a writers convention with his best friend and best selling paranormal romance author, Nicky Love, two minutes in the presence of redheaded knockout Leelee Songchild knocks the air right outta him and has him thinking things he never expected. There's just one problem... he can't act on it because he is there to be Nicky's fake boyfriend for the week. Josh & Nicky have been best friends most of their lives and Nicky was there for Josh at a time when he needed him the most; he cannot let his best friend down now and risk his career but... he is desperately fighting to find the willpower necessary to stay away from Leelee when all he wants to do is rip her clothes off and keep her by any means possible. When the truth finally does come out, all hell breaks loose leaving a path of destruction in it's wake that they may never recover from.

This book just did not do it for me. Didn't enjoy the storyline with all the jargon talk and the characters weren't all that good either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for book 2! 26 September 2014

Josh Stone is one manly character. It takes a very brave woman writer to take on such a man and cast him as the star of a romance novel. Rie Warren pulls it off brilliantly. I fell in love with Stone’s voice as he tumbles into a blossoming romance with off-limits LeeLee Songchild.

In addition to the romance and some serious sexual mojo, the story weaves in Stone’s life as a single father, a best friend, and owner of a mechanic shop. It’s told in first-person, giving a very intimate connection between Stone and the reader. And speaking of intimate, this book is full of very sexy stuff, exactly what the author is known for. The tension between Stone and LeeLee threads through the entire book, right to the end.

The story is full of characters that I’d like to meet. I’m very intrigued to know if any of the writers portrayed in the book are based on anyone that the author is acquainted with. Warren’s writing style makes you feel like she might be open to you whispering that very question in her ear should you ever chance upon her, though I have a feeling the answer might be a seductive wink accompanied by sealed lips.

I loved the ending of Stone’s story. It was exactly what this romance reader hoped it would be. Plus, there’s a teaser for the next book. Nicky’s story. Yay! Can’t wait to read the next one.

Overall Rating: 5 Rockin’ ★★★★★

What do you do when your best friend is an author/best seller of romance novels and needs to pretend he is gay to keep the wild women of romance off his back? You help him by going undercover as his gay lover! The whole idea that Josh Stone or Nicholas Loveland were anything but all American heterosexual men was ludicrous! Both men are men’s men with enough testosterone to run a small country between the two of them. This is where the fun, laughter and OMG did that really happen starts to go viral.

Josh Stone is a responsible father, son and overall good guy, with the exception to his Friday one night stands. His ex-wife left him, signed over all rights to their baby and disappeared. Josh loves his son with all his heart and soul and takes his job as a father seriously. He agrees to go with his BFF to a romance writers’ convention in Atlanta and protect him from all the crazy women that want a piece of Nicky Love. The first person he runs into is the woman of his dreams, the one he didn’t think he would ever find and he has to pretend to be gay and in love! What is a guy to do? Especially with a redhead, over the top sexy woman walking around in stilettoes and strutting her stuff!

Leelee is a new-comer to the industry and has just published her first novel. She is being pursued by an obnoxious agent that wants her to sign with him. Leelee did not expect to be rescued from the oily agent’s pursuit by a knight in shining armor named Stone. He made her forget her despicable ex-fiancé and want to get up close and personal with this beautiful man. Only problem she could see was the fact that he had a lover already and he was gay! What’s a girl to do when said gay guy starts getting up close and personal. Can he really want her? What is happening to her?

Will Stone be able to last a week as a gay guy to help his friend? What is he going to do about Leelee, the one he never thought he would find? This is a must read for anyone that loves a good HEA!

Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you want to laugh, cry and just enjoy yourself while reading a really great romance this is the book for you! You will not be able to put it down from the moment you start reading. It really is that good!

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Ms. Warren tells her stories with such skill that the reader is immediately enthralled. After finishing her books, I find myself hunting for another book to read by this remarkable author.

5.0 out of 5 stars You're in for a treat. 26 September 2014

This book was satisfying on so many levels. Josh Stone is a man’s man, rough, gruff, no-nonsense. He’s the kind of book boyfriend women are really looking for. But this single dad loves his young son, is great to his mother, and fair but funny with his employees and friends. All of these trait leads him to agree to help his friend Nicky Love, by pretending to be his boyfriend at a convention of romance novelists. As they say, the road to ... well, you know where... is paved with good intentions. Because Josh isn’t at the convention for two minutes when he meets the one woman he’s convinced is right for him. Except, he’s supposed to be gay. How in the world can he pursue Leelee Songchild without ruining things for his lifelong friend, Nick. It’s a tangled mess with equal parts of fun, frivolity and hot, hot romance.

Rie Warren has an amazing grasp of writing from a man’s perspective. Not only that, she has created a secondary cast of characters that almost stole the show. I found myself loving them on the page as much as I loved Stone himself. By the time I finished reading this book, my cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Grab this if you like blue-collar dads with hearts of gold and moves of liquid silver. 27 September 2014
By Drea of LilyElement Reviews - Published on

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Rie Warren’s latest is a fun romp that answers the question of how fun would it be to be a hot manly man at a romance convention. The answer? Really fun, unless the woman who got your eye thought you were gay.

Here’s my blurb:

Mechanic and successful garage owner Josh Stone would do anything for his family and friends. Including posing as his best friend Nick’s lover at a romance convention, even if it means leaving his son J.J. for the first time. But when Josh meets the newest member of Nick’s author entourage, missing J.J. might be worth it…at least for a few days. Leelee is his ideal woman—beautiful, intelligent, talented, and she knows about cars. All that sexiness wrapped up in a best selling author to boot. There’s just one problem: she thinks he’s gay and in a committed relationship. And her ex ditched her for a guy.

Whoa boy, poor Josh. He’s in a bad situation here.

Josh is a blue-collar prince with all the right moves on the dance floor and in the bedroom. Somehow heroine Leelee manages to hold out, at least for a little while, even beneath his suave moves and incredible six pack. But his heart-melting interactions with his adorable son are probably what made her a goner.

Told from his point of view, Ms. Warren’s writing makes the read feel as if we’re really inside the mind of a gritty, guy’s guy. As with her other books, this one isn’t for the faint of heart. Josh thinks, and talks, much as you’d expect guys to. If you’re into the softer romances with flowery declarations, while there is some sweet-talking in this, this story might not to be your cup of tea. But if you want a romance that’s closer to life, snatch this one up.

There’s also a bonus story-within-a-story—Leelee’s hot New Adult romance. At some points I found I liked it better, actually, because it was told from dual points of view and I dig that.

Along that line, I didn’t get any of the goose bumps and chills I get with many love scenes I read. Whether this was because of the male point of view or something else, I can’t say. I did flip faster through the first few chapters, hoping we’d finally get to jump into Leelee’s mind. And we never do. I’d have loved a hint at why she did a few of the things that she did (like why she freaked out the morning after when there’d been seemingly nothing to set her off). Aside from that, this is a cute story.

Grab this if you like blue-collar dads with hearts of gold and moves of liquid silver.

It's times like this I sing praise for blog tours. I've never heard of this author so after reading this book I'm super excited to see she's gotmore books released that I can suck my teeth into.

Stones best friend Nicky asks him for a favour- to pretend to be his gay lover at an authors convention. Even though Stones a hot alpha male he agrees to help him. He regrets it as soon as he sees Leelee. I loved Stone. He's the perfect single dad alpha male-mmmm.

This book was a great read. With some awe moments and some laugh out loud moments I just loved it.

Looking forward to reading more from this author especially the next book in this series.
