This apparently is the first in the series set at Sandham, so it looks as if I am onto some good reading. This is the type of book that is not overcrowded with characters who could have 'done it' or those who are just thrown in to confuse the reader and the flow of the story. This is a simply told police procedural set in a different country with different customs, and different laws, and was very welcome reading. I do get so tired of the same old same old.
The chief protagonists are fleshed out as real human beings with real back-grounds, real feelings and are not the wizz bang gotcha type detective a lot of authors make their detectives out to be . This book took some weeks - not days - to track down the baddies, and that really sat well with me. I have not met a detective who even looked like he could light a cigarette correctly let alone catch a baddie in lightning speed,so this was a welcome relief. Good reading and highly recommend the experience.
