HOW TO PLAY
1. Kick down the door
Draw one card from the Door deck and turn it face up. If it's a monster, you must fight it. If it's a curse, apply it. If you draw any other card, put it in your hand.
2. Fight the Monster
Compare your combat strength (your level plus any bonuses or penalties) to the monster's combat strength. If yours is greater, you win! Don't forget to ask for help if you need it!
3. Grab the Treasure
When you kill the monster, draw the number of treasures listed on the bottom of the monster's card. Share (if someone helped) or hoard them all to yourself!
4. Reach Level 10 and Win!
Gain a level (or more!) when defeating a monster. The first player to Level 10 wins the game!

adding up their power stat every turn (to account for new variables) and having to add up for other players who are a bit slower or not that good at quick mental arithmetic. You can get some long chains of addition and subtraction towards the end game.

One criticism I've seen is that it relies very heavily on random chance instead of skill which is true, but that ends up getting everybody involved. I'm the one who owns the game and I understand the rules the best, but despite my best efforts I don't always win. That's not to say there is no strategy, but the opportunity to craft the perfect hand and foresee every single outcome just isn't there with this game.
The only criticism I have, and the reason I'm docking one star, is because of the sheer intricacy and number of cards at play, specifically if you have some of the expansion packs. I appreciate updated content and I'm glad the creators of the game are continually breathing fresh life into it, but it makes breaking into it a daunting task. I have never played a game that lasted shorter than one hour, and walking new players through options available to them is frustrating, for myself and for the new player. It's a lot to ask of someone to sit through an hour and a half long tutorial before they have any real idea what's going on.
All that being said however, I have played many card based party games, and this one is my favorite hands down. Giving it 5 stars would be misleading to possible future purchases, but if you enjoy party card games and have some friends that are patient and like learning new games, buy munchkin. The potential here is much greater than with any of those other games.
The steps are simple. 1. You kick down the door. 2. You fight the monster. 3. You grab the treasure. 4. You try and reach level ten.
This game is for 3 to six players and can take a very little or a very long time. It really just depends on how lucky you are. I also like how you can combine it with all the other munchkin games out there to have loads of different cards, monsters, and just enhanced gameplay. Overall this game is awesome and easy to learn so I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good game.
