Set against the background of rugged Wyoming and drawing on the fascinating art world, Vickie Britton and Loretta Jackson’s “Stealer of Horses” is a vividly painted mystery-suspense with a blob of romantic tension to heighten the appeal.
Sheriff Jeff McQuede gets the call that wheelchair-bound art gallery owner Sheldon Spence’s wife Susan is missing, along with a huge amount of cash. Was she kidnapped? Did she leave willingly with a lover? Working through characters as interesting and brightly colored as Native American Carlo Owatah’s high-priced art work, McQuede must find Susan before she gets killed. That mission puts his life on the line as he takes a bullet. Even the life of his girlfriend is threatened since she spotted the get-away car and driver.
The twists in Stealer of Horses match the winding Black Mountain roads and no one is exactly what he or she seems – making McQuede’s task seemingly impossible.

She is an amazing author. She did a lot of research. I love her characters and the story kept me on pins and needles. I couldn't stop reading nor guess how the mystery was going to conclude. Because I enjoyed this novel I decided to read another novel, "Whispers of the Stones".

I just couldn't get into this book. It wasn't holding my interest --things that the characters did was strange and DIDN't make a lot of sense.
