Product Description

Set against the steamy and sultry world of South Beach, Florida, a modern romance unfolds in Stay. Alexa is beautiful, independent and hard to resist for serially unattached Julian. Neither one is looking for a relationship, but their palpable chemistry and instant emotional connection is too strong to ignore.

For the first time in years, Julian is interested in more than just sex. He wants a relationship with intoxicating Alexa, but it's not that simple. Not only are Julian and Alexa struggling with the intensity of this new relationship, but they also have to contend with Luke, Alexa's best friend, whose own love for her leaves him willing to do anything to convince her that Julian is not the man for her.

Luke's determination and Alexa's secret past threaten to tear Julian and Alexa apart as she struggles to open her heart to love. Julian and Alexa embark upon a roller-coaster ride of emotional and physical passion that both pulls them apart and holds them together.

Despite their affinity for each other, Alexa fears that Julian will leave when he learns about her past and Julian is unsure he can love a woman who in so many ways remains a mystery, a woman who keeps threatening to run, a woman who can't decide if she is going to STAY.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book! 21 February 2015

I really liked this book even if there was times I wanted to smack Alexa. I realize that she is grieving and blaming herself for her ex's death. She has been in therapy for years but never opened up. Her and Julian are explosive. She bumps into him at a club one night, and after one night she is fighting feelings that she has never felt before. Julian is instantly drawn to her and is reluctant to have her. She is dealing with figuring out her feelings along with her best friend Luke having feelings for her as well. There's a whole lot going on in this book. Things finally come out in the open and it isn't good. She is more confused than before. She may have lost her best friend in the process but she finally has the breakout she's been waiting for. I truly love Julian, he's suave with his spanish speaking, and fancy cars. I like that Alexa is strong even though she's been through hell for the past few years. I can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out how things are played out. I can actually relate to Alexa in a way, I had an ex that was sweet at the beginning and then let drugs take over his life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A definite book club selection! 22 November 2013

Stay is a great read. The characters are engaging from the moment they are introduced. The storylines are current and relevant and the author has created characters who engage in dynamic relationships we can all relate to.

Having grown up in South Florida, I love the way she embraces Miami and its Hispanic culture and weaves it into the book. Hilary is a strong writer and her detailed descriptions make it easy to visualize each and every scenario as if you are watching it on TV.

The love scenes are as hot and spicy as I picture Julian himself to be. Julian and Alexa’s relationship is complex with twists and turns until the end. Appropriately titled, both characters have you wondering whether their relationship will make it and if indeed they will Stay. Here’s hoping that this is not the last I read about Julian and Alexa.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bottle my craziness and put it in a book!!! 11 February 2016
By Kris Clark - Published on Amazon.com

I absolutely love it when I start a book with no assumptions, no knowledge of it, and not really having read any reviews and end up totally falling in love with it. That was totally the case with Stay. I actually had it in my kindle library for a while and was running through all my books and decided that I would start this one. I honestly didn't even realize it that it was the start of a running series. (be forewarned that the story does run over multiple books....I usually like to know that beforehand). Anyway, Alexa is such a complex character with so much going on it's hard to not have some sympathy for her. Everyone has secrets and things they keep to themselves and Alexa has made it her specialty. You do eventually find out what's going on even though I had my thoughts throughout the first part of the book as to what things could be. There are points that you want to reach in and smack the s*** out of her but I think that's what makes her seem all the more real. Now to Julian.......(swoon). He is everything that anyone could ask for. He's loving, caring, supportive, gorgeous, and so in tune with what he wants.....what's not to love about him. I totally need a Julian in my life!! (He knows how to deal with "the crazy") This book (series) has definitely made it to my top 5! Must read!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love hurts 9 May 2015
By Irene R - Published on Amazon.com

First let me say that Julian's and Alexa's relationship reminds me of Katy Perry's song Hot n Cold. Seriously it did. I have to admit it started off slow for me. But once all the drama with Julian began it picked right up. I didn't want to put it down to go to bed.

Alexa had been through a lot in the past year. She goes to work and then home. She has a small circle of friends that she confides in. However the one thing she needs to tell she doesn't. She feels that once she tells people it will be real. By not letting people know it stays in the dark. She doesn't talk about her emotions that well either. She hides and she hides well.

Alexa literally runs right into Julian. I mean for real. Does that even happen in real life? Little does Alexa know that Julian has a past he doesn't like to talk about and he hies his well too. Julian is Alexa's rude awakening. He wants to know everything there is to know about Alexa. We really don't know much about Julian. We get a few bits here and there. I guess it is hard for Alexa to tell Julian about her past when he doesn't really tell her his. However Julian knows how sensitive Alexa can be, she will go off in a minute, like a ticking time bomb.

They both crave one another, they feel the electric when they touch. They know when one another is around. Julian is ready to lay it all down on the line. He is afraid that when he does Alexa will check out and go dark. How right he is. She doesn't understand why he wants her, when he can have anyone. The way Julian would deal with his past is woman. Yes he has been with some woman, they all love him, want him. He only wants one though. There is jealousy on both sides. So much so that they have butted heads a few times. Like I said their relationship reminds me of Katy Perry's song Hot n Cold. We fight, we break up, we kiss we make up!! Oh the making up with these two is out of this world.

It is a roller coaster of a read. I am sure some of you might yell at Alexa and want to throw your reading device. You might even say I will take Julian if she doesn't want him. I do have to say though the ending left me hanging. I want, no I need to know what is happening next. Did they stay together? Did she run? What in the world is going on..........

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love Julian Bauer! 23 February 2015
By Michelle - Published on Amazon.com

4.5 stars. Wow, I think I fell in love with Julian Bauer the first moment he stepped onto the pages of the book and that is only a fraction of what I felt for him by the end of the book. Alexa Reed has been dealing with the trauma of her past for about a year now and it hasn't been easy for her, despite being surrounded by amazing friends and a supportive family. She has a good job and she's focusing on getting better everyday. The problem with Alexa is that she still keeps her darkest secrets locked up and her true emotions under wraps. Ever since the tornado of her last relationship, she hasn't been able to trust easily and is afraid to put her heart out there for the fear of experiencing complete devastation again. Julian enters the picture and turns Alexa's perfectly constructed and damaged world topsy turvy. Not because Julian wants to create chaos, because Julian is absolutely wonderful in every way, but rather, Alexa is not ready to confront the strong feelings that he brings out in her. I really liked Alexa, but even my ability to give her wide berth was wearing thin, so I applaud Julian for having the infinite patience that he did with her. Julian is a wealthy hotel owner so he's a very busy person and really doesn't have much time to devote to a relationship, much less with a complicated person like Alexa, but he believes they have something worth pursuing so he never gives up on her. I adored that about him. He was incredibly intuitive and perceptive even when Alexa was being irrational and breaking down. I understood her fear about not wanting Julian to see her when she was fragile and unglued, but it was obvious to me that Julian was willing to accept the whole package of her. Then there's Luke, Alexa's best friend, who has been by her side through everything for the last several years. Don't get me wrong, I liked Luke, even towards the end when he really soured in my eyes, but I don't feel like he is the right guy for Alexa past friendship. I could go on and on about where he went wrong, but instead, I'm going to focus on the fact that what Julian and Alexa share is more than just a physical connection, it's very obvious that they are bound on a soul deep level. Julian is not at all what I expected, he doesn't swear much, he hardly drinks and he is very private about his personal life. He keeps a very cool composure on the outside and when he's with Alexa, despite his dominance, he's also incredibly gentle, sweet and giving that in some of the scenes with the two of them, Alexa is the one who is rather blunt and impatient and it's actually kind of funny. And because Julian is a hot Latin lover, he also speaks Spanish, which is a huge bonus. I really loved the development of their relationship because it was new territory for both of them and although Alexa's secrets are eventually spilled, I really want to know about Julian's past and to see if Alexa can move forward.
