About the Author
I've been jotting down my stories as far back as I can remember. Somehow life took over, I got a sensible job in project management and the writing has remained a passion.
I live in The Midlands with my lovely husband and our wonderful daughter, who thankfully, both accept me as I am (with my mad morning hair and a penchant for skipping).

I really liked Kate and Tims characters and the later proved the point, never judge a book by its cover.
Thank you to the author for writing this story.
I never used to read much, however when you read stories like these , you want more and get hooked.
A full 5/5 stars for me.
Funny laugh out loud in places, sad teary in others and one character who I thought I wouldn't like turned out to be a great person.
Out of the hundred or so books I've read this year, this one has surprised me the most. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.
For starters, Bella had me giggling within the very first chapter of her book. It opened with a very serious, very sombre tone, placing me right at the scene of a funeral. It didn't take long for Bella to tickle my sides when I realised that it was, indeed, a funeral that was taking place, but a funeral for a hamster. Just from this small amount of text, I knew that I was in for a treat with the rest of Bella's book. Her humorous, engaging writing style spurred me on throughout the rest of It Started at Sunset Cottage.
Bella's characters in It Started at Sunset Cottage were fantastic, although I felt at times that perhaps I didn't know them well enough. Kate, a writer and recently widowed, has been offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to have one of her books turned into a movie, which leads to her meeting the gorgeous Timothy Calder who will be playing the leading male role in the movie adaptation. There was a fabulous chemistry between Kate and Timothy, that I constantly looked forward to seeing again and again, and I seriously enjoyed reading about the numerous actors and actresses who Kate met when on set. It was a gorgeous world that had been opened up to her, full of famous faces and diva actresses, and the atmosphere felt as if were buzzing each and every time. Kate's best-friend, Sarah, single-mum, had a life that contrasted beautifully with Kate's. Rather than dealing with stroppy actresses, she was dealing with her stroppy arse of an ex, instead. Belle does a fantastic job of sneaking in a gloriously mysterious aspect to this ex, and I found myself trying to figure out what exactly he was up to. I took a serious disliking to the man, and really couldn't wait for him to bugger off, but when Bella dropped a huge twist into the plot, I was hooked! Things turned upside down and I just couldn't wait to see how it would all play out.
I found It Started at Sunset Cottage to be a seriously entertaining read, and loved the relationships between the main characters and some of the secondary characters, too! It was a lovely, light-hearted story, and Sunset Cottage was just one of the many things that I loved about. Becca's Books is awarding It Started at Sunset Cottage by Bella Osborne with FOUR DELICIOUS CUPCAKES! I'm still giggling away about that first chapter! ;)
Other than my initial uncertainty of how the characters knew each other, I would have liked to have their relationships made clear a tad earlier, I feel that this book is maybe a step up from the usual chick lit that I read in between the more serious books (by serious think Gone Girl, nothing too tasking). By a step up I mean that the characters were very real, the book wasn't a series of stupid decisions which someone with 30yrs life experience and a successful career would hopefully never make. Also their lives weren't all rosy and getting the perfect guy wasn't the only goal. Obviously relationships and romance were a part of the story.
I fell in love with all of the characters and both storylines almost equally, Kate's story had me slightly more hooked.
It was a funny, well thought out, brilliant book. Well done Bella!
The only bad thing I can think of is that there is no follow up. If not a sequel then a short story for Christmas would be great. I'd love to read more about Kate's life after the epilogue.
(I am well aware that I've rambled in this review, I couldn't help it, I enjoyed the story so much!)
Once I saw It Started at Sunset Cottage had been nominated in the RNA awards, I couldn't resist bringing it forward in my reading plans, since its been on my kindle for a few months. I had a vague idea of the sort of book I was possibly expecting, and I'm very pleased to say this smashed my expectations, and by just over half way I could see exactly why its a book that has been nominated for an award.
The characters are one the whole very easy to love, and the baddies are the sort that I wanted to spit at, had I passed them in the street. The two I am specifically thinking of, are barely decent human beings, and really shouldn't be allowed to have a good ending.
Kate's fiance died almost two years ago, and she is trying to get herself back together. She's an author, and is shocked to hear that one of her books could soon be a film. And even more shocked that the lead actor they want, is Timothy Calder, so imagine how surprised she is when he turns up at Sunset Cottage, where Kate and Marcus are working on the screenplay, just so he can hide out from the press for a bit.
During their time in the cottage, an unlikely friendship flourishes, but it stays as just friends. Meanwhile, Kate's best friend Sarah has been having a tough time with her ex-husband. He is clearly up to no good, but the extent is not immediately obvious. Sarah has a five year older daughter, and she is completely adorable, and easily one of my favorite characters in the book.
Andy is Kate's fiancee's brother, and thus is close to both girls, offering them help whenever possible. But what is not clear from the start is which of the two ladies, Andy has his eye on.
It Started at Sunset Cottage has laughs, drama, romance, a clear bad guy, a small amount of fabulous sex, movie stars and those are just some of the ingredients of this highly enjoyable story. The writing is warm and very easy to follow, and it got to the point where the book became very addictive, while certain events were unfolding.
I thoroughly enjoyed It Started at Sunset Cottage and I'm looking forward to Bella's new release later this year.
