"Addictive new series, approach only if you are willing to read into the early hours of the morning!!!" Chicks That Read

One desperate phone call is all it takes to turn Amber’s previously dull day into one speeding scarily out of control!

Amber Reed’s at work making up the horoscopes for the local newspaper and wishing for some excitement in her life, when she gets a phone call offering her just that.

Plunged into the middle of a celebrity murder investigation she’s desperately trying to convince the scarily handsome special agent assigned to solve the case that she can help him catch the killer.

Amber’s soon battling something far more dangerous than she could ever have imagined – and it has nothing to do with the equally scary chemistry fizzing between her and special agent Charlie.

Is it Amber’s wish for more excitement in her life which has landed her in big trouble – or is her fate written in the stars?

In The Stars is part of the fun, romantic Amber Reed Mystery series:

* In The Stars (book 1)
* On Trial ( book 1.5)
* Precious (book 2)
* Forever Mine (book 3)
* Past Perfect (book 4)
* Stop The Beat (book 5)

If you love plenty of romance and comedy with your mysteries then grab an Amber Reed book and join Amber on one of her many fun sleuthing adventures!

Praise for this book from book blogs, authors, Amazon reviewers and readers:

“The book is witty and light, with non-stop action and plenty of romance. I love the way the characters play off of each other, especially the leads. I can’t wait to find out what happens to Amber and Charlie next!” Caroline Fardig, author of the Lizzie Hart Mysteries.

“I quickly warmed to the main protagonist, Amber, and leading man Charlie has a bit of a James Bond feel to him which I think numerous female readers will definitely enjoy!” Jody, a spoonful of happy ending book blog.

“This is the opening salvo for a fun, new series which I enjoyed very much. Interesting characters with an intriguing "who done it" plot which holds you enthralled.” Barbara, amazon reader.

“I loved this book! I had to go & buy the next 3... Had to see what happens next. Can't wait for book 5 to come out! I got hooked fast.” Maryanne, amazon reader.

“Cute story and very entertaining. A light hearted adventure with many hilarious moments; still having all the necessary components of a good mystery. Sort of a quirky romance with a foreshadowing of things to come in the future. Definitely plan on following up with our heroic couple to see what adventures they have.” Happy Me, amazon reviewer.

“I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I can't even put my finger on what it was that made the book stand out so much. I just really enjoyed the chemistry between the investigating team, the understated comedy and the overall cosy feeling of it. There is good humour, warmth and a good plot, moved along by interesting characters. A series I will be watching.” Molly, amazon reader.

This was a fun cozy mystery. Amber is the least likely sleuth but she tries hard. She works part-time in a pub and newspaper but when a good friend, Ennis, asks her to follow the agent assigned to his brother's death, she can't say no. Ennis is worried that the death had something to do with him because he's now a famous movie star.

It was funny when the agent, Charlie, wouldn't let Amber go with him while he investigated the death but she followed him anyway. Of course, he spotted her right away. Poor Charlie knew it would be easier to keep track of Amber if she was with him so he let her tag along.

I liked the way Charlie tracked down all possible suspects. It was interesting to find out how the death came about. The attraction between Charlie and Amber was nice, too. They tried to stay professional and keep their hands off each other, but it was hard.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't be too quick to judge. 7 March 2015

This was an O.K, read. I simply couldn't get drawn into it. There was some suspense, but not enough for a really good story. Everything seemed to be solved so easily. I didn't think there was enough depth to the characters; Amber and Charlie were the best. I just don't see part time news paper astrology writer. and a part time bar tender as well solving murders.
It was a quick read, and I am sure some people would like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must read for lovers of cozy mysteries! 16 January 2017

I read book #2 Precious and then worked my way backwards and now forwards. I loved all of them and it looks like #5 is a winner, too. I think the writing is well done and the characters fleshed out just perfectly. Amber is self deprecating, as females are likely to do, always doubting themselves. However, she always rises to the challenge, even though she doesn't appreciate her strengths. I am hoping that by the end of the series, she is more self-aware and proud of herself. She's awesome as our the books!

3.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight 24 March 2016
By Freckles' mom - Published on Amazon.com

Mediocre though readable. Starting off with a misused apostrophe put me in a bad mood. The main characters are endearing but predictable. The astrology theme, featured in the title and the blurb, is dismissed as meaningless from the beginning. Not exactly a good plot device. The plotting and characterization in general suffer from a disconnection between actions and consequences. Finally, (spoiler alert) a character is diagnosed with split personality disorder, though this is way over the top and used to explain actions that are a mere red herring at best. Stopped me dead again with a "huh, that was unnecessary and improbable". Gave it three stars because I did finish it, though I stopped near the end, compelled to write this.
4.0 out of 5 stars Danger and romance heat up the pages of this intriguing mystery. 24 February 2017

Amber has made a life for ehrself in ger small hometown. She has to work two part time jobs to make ends meet but she is comfortable, with friends and family near. One friend, actually an ex-boyfriend, is now a famous film actor. When a personal tragedy strikes his life, he asks Amber to keep an eye on the investigation so he can stay out of the spotlight and gossip magazines.
This results in pairing Amber with the sexy special CCIA agent, Charlie. How far will Amber have to go to help a friend?

Danger and romance heat up the pages of this intriguing mystery. Could there be more than one case to solve or are they connected? Who will be more persuasive - the debonair detective agent or the charming astrologer? It was a fun read, a dangerously exciting mystery, and a clean romance with heat!
