Really enjoyed the Dwyer series but found this too convoluted and far fetched. Felt uncomfortable just reading interactions between characters. Sorry but very disappointing.

I enjoyed the story concept, the characters, and the light entertaining read.
I need to get the second in the series but was informed I have to wait, and can order it.

Eerily familiar, but very enjoyable. Love the themes of learning to trust and working together, to overcome 'evil'

Age old quest but feels fresh and new
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 September 2016Verified Purchase
I knew I was going to love Stars of Fortune when my spine tingled reading the prologue. A perfect myth - three goddesses with gifts for the new queen and of course a balancing dark goddess (Nerezza) determined to bring the world to darkness, death and ruination.
Sometimes the first story in a trilogy can be slow as the foundations are laid for what's to come but Stars of Fortune moves at a fast pace. As soon as Sasha realises the place she must go she's on a plane and on the first evening meets Riley and Bran. On that same evening Nerezza makes herself known. From here it's a well-paced rollercoaster of the strangers coming together and Nerezza testing the waters before the big finale (or I should say one of the big finale's seeing as there are two more novels to come!).
As Sawyer, Annika and Doyle enter the story I loved trying to work out what skills and knowledge they would bring to the group. A couple I was wrong about but then they all hide something underneath that outward veneer - love the intrigue. Each person brings knowledge of a different aspect to the myth in the prologue, building up to capturing the star of fire.
Stars of Fortune isn't all about the quest. Despite Sasha appearing the weakest and not wanting to accept her dream walking skills she's the one who makes the group take a look at themselves and bind them closer together. Her personal journey of acceptance and learning skills from the others makes her one of my favourite characters in this trilogy so far. Her soul connection with Bran is magical and otherworldly as well as being grounded in the physical and emotional. Perfect.
Love, love, love the magic and the earth healing. There are more secrets to be revealed in the Bay of Sighs and I'm looking forward to the focus being on Annika and Sawyer as they continue to search for the star of water.
The quest may be the age old battle between the light and the dark but the characters, settings and even magical battles make this feel fresh and new.

FANTASTIC BOOK
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2020Verified Purchase
THIS BOOK IS A BRILLIANT STORY, PART OF A TRILOGY. I LOVED THEM ALL. YOU GET SUCKED IN TO THE BOOK. THE CHARACTORS ARE WELL THOUGHT OUT AND THEIR PARTS IN THE TRILOGY ARE BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN. I DIDNT WANT TO PUT THIS BOOK DOWN AS I WAS ENJOYING IT THAT MUCH AND I WAS SO ENGROSSED I WAS TURNING PAGE AFTER PAGE. I DO NOT WANT TO SAY TOO MUCH ABOUT THE STORY AS I DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU, BUT I WILL SAY THIS, YOU WILL ENJOY IT IF YOU LIKE STORIES ABOUT GOOD AND EVIL AND MYTHS AND LEGENDS.

Excellent book if a little short
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 December 2016Verified Purchase
There are quite a few characters which gets a little confusing, but eventually makes sense. Only negative for me is that it was a little short and I just worry that greed has taken over, I hope not but am sure in years gone by that the three books would have been one novel. Despite that, the book is well written and compelling, I have already downloaded the next installment

Bought for my wife who is an avid reader - 3 books per week.
Nora Roberts has proved to be a real find - her style of writing suits my wife.
Easy to read, good descriptions, good storyline with humour sprinkled in en-route.
