I've enjoyed all of his books so far, but this one was kinda meh. Too short for the price, too long for the story. Majority of the plot felt contrived; surprised by camo soldiers despite tricorders, capt risking instant death of away team and leaving no method of comms just because, small probe for some reason has weapon of mass destruction amounts of matter/antimatter. *throws hands up*
When a starfleet probe crash lands on a pre warp planet and fails to self destruct, the S.C.E. is sent in to destroy the probe. Of course there are a few complications such as the probe landing in the middle of war zone, some members of the S.C.E. get surounded by an army, and one almost gets stoned to death. Reads like a action movie.
