Not a great book, but not a terrible one either. A murderer is loose on ds9 and all clues lead to a fan favourite! There are sub plots, too, but given that the story is based on ds9, the lack of bajoran and cardassian features is a let down. The writing feels wrong, too. The characters are there, the story is surprisingly dark and violent, but they dont gel like they did on the show. The interaction feels forced, somehow, like a sponge cake cut into pieces with a chainsaw instead of a kitchen knife. But the resolution is mildly satisfying, with a small degree of action right at the end. To be enjoyed mainly by series die hards and trek completionists.

I've been enjoying Peter David's Marvel Comics work for over 30 years now. I previously read his Q Next Generation book and it was great. This one.... I loved even more. He gets the characters of Deep Space Nine down to a T (especially the interaction between and about Odo and Quark which plays to Mr DavId's strengths) and it was a thoroughly grippjng and highly entertaining read. Loved this 👍🏻

Great read

Peter David may as well have written this midway through the series he did so well capturing the feel of the characters, instead of only seeing a few episodes when he wrote it. This is a catch the serial killer novel where the Killer might be one of Odo's people. I have read this multiple times the last 20 years or so and it is still great.

Really great read, the ending was the best part. Well thought and well written. The characters feel right and it paints a good picture of what’s happening. Highly recommend

Kept Me Reading
Reviewed in the United States on 8 August 2020Verified Purchase
The plot of this book is one that kept me wanting to find out how it would play out. The author does a good job of revealing the mindset of each character so I understood why they chose to do what they did. Anyone who enjoys Sci Fi will find this book a good read.

Just like a good tv episode.
Reviewed in the United States on 24 June 2015Verified Purchase
My first Trek book read as a die-hard Trek, and especially DS9, fan. Felt just like a good tv episode. Certain things like the descriptions of a murder or racy holosuite scene were things you would not see portrayed in a normal episode, but they weren't overboard or out of place. Only complaint is the author was unnecessarily wordy in a few places, causing speed bumps in the enjoyment of the story while looking up a few obscure words. Also wasn't aware that ferengi pur--lol.
