My only quibble is that the story seems to take a LONG time to get where it’s going. I could sense the story-arc from the first few chapters, and there was a lot of teenage angst and guilt and indecision to wade through. A bit more editing, maybe... But well worth the read, and highly recommended.
I think it's safe to say I won't be finishing this one. Started it after it came out, then kept putting it aside and picking it up, until I stopped doing the latter.
I wanted to at least like it but, I don't know, the story didn't pull me in. Maybe my expectations were high or I was misled by the synopsis? I really thought it would be a YA fantasy, but it's actually contemporary. Nothing wrong with that, since I happen to love contemporaries, but the story and I just didn't mesh. Can't say I was a fan of the writing style, either.
So, I'm parting with it, unfinished because it's time. 2 stars, my standard DNF rating.
