Product description

Product Description

Morton Farrier was no longer at the top of his game. His forensic genealogy career was faltering and he was refusing to accept any new cases, preferring instead to concentrate on locating his own elusive biological father. Yet, when a particular case presents itself, that of finding the family of a woman abandoned in the midst of the Battle of Britain, Morton is compelled to help her to unravel her past. Using all of his genealogical skills, he soon discovers that the case is connected to The Spyglass File—a secretive document which throws up links which threaten to disturb the wrongdoings of others, who would rather its contents, as well as their actions, remain hidden forever.

This is the fourth book in the Morton Farrier genealogical crime mystery series, although it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

To read about the war through the eyes of a WAAF lady, is to find yourself being pulled into the most dreadful times in history. The story is so real that you cannot put it down. Looking forward to finding out the real story behind Morton's history.

A slow start, but then I became immersed in the story. Scenes from the past, mostly from Elsie's point of view through the WW2, are incorporated into the story giving a good insight into historical references into the bombing around London and the South of England. The carnage and desolation of war make us do things we would never normally do as the story portrays! Loved the insight into the young fighter pilots playing Russian Roulette in the skies and how hard life was even for the optimistic young people. Morton a forensic genealogist in current times, is hired by Barbara - who has just discovered that she was adopted and wishes to find her biological parents. He discovers a secretive document all too late which throws up links to disturbing wrongdoings and is the answer to many hidden identities.

I have enjoyed this book just as much as it predecessors and Rico, mend that these books be read from book 1 first. They are enjoyable and keep me hooked to the end.
I am looking forward to the next in the series - hopefully because Morton Farrier has questions still unanswered

Another fascinating and enthralling story written by this author. With descriptive detail of the past can picture the horrifying experience of the war. Then, suddenly brought back to the present as Morton unravels the mystery for the future generation.
