About the Author
A southerner by birth, Mary Ellen Taylor's love of her home state of Virginia is evident in her contemporary women's fiction, which includes her novels Spring House and Winter Cottage. When Mary Ellen's not writing, she spends time baking, hiking, and spoiling her miniature dachshunds, Buddy, Bella, and Tiki. For more information about the author, check out www.MaryEllenTaylor.com.

I'm fascinated by history and how we and the world have come to be where we are. As an amateur historian genealogist, I identified with the uncovering of the past through a house and it's contents. I think many of us would love to do the same.
Being British - a mixture of Welsh, English, Scottish and Irish (the last yet to be verified), I needed to look up a few things I wasn't certain I understood. Thank goodness for the internet. I no longer have to make do with guessing what I think things are. I live not far from France, as the crow flies, and I've been to Le Have. I've also been lucky enough to go to Virginia a couple of times, though not the Chesapeake coast. I've only flown over that. It's not essential to know places in stories but it can help to feel more connected.
The women in this story are fascinating. If they were real I'd rather like to meet them.
I'm going to read other books by this author.
This was my first Mary Ellen Taylor book, and I can't wait to go back and read Winter Cottage so I can spend a little more time in this world with these characters. This is a book I will revisit time and time again, and it's a book I will tell all of my friends about.
Samuel Jessup had died. He was the last Jessup son and Adele’s brother-in-law. He had inherited Winter Cottage; but refused to live in it, preferring Spring House instead. Now, it had gone to Lucy Kincaid. Lucy wanted to restore Winter Cottage and Spring House and hired Megan Buchanan to do it. She was going to do Spring House first so she and Lucy could have a place to stay. She was totally intent on doing a fantastic job so that her fledgling interior decorating idea would continue to bring in business.
Megan wanted to do the bet job she could so she looked into old material for anything she could learn about the houses so their history would be preserved as much as their walls. It is a make or break job for her. Can she do it?
