Product Description

There are some places in this world that go far beyond any normal definition of “haunted.” These places are so evil, so diabolical, that they become gateways to Hell itself. The Fuller Farm is one such place.

It is said that old man Fuller conducted unspeakable acts, blood rituals and human sacrifices, all in an attempt to gain the ultimate knowledge, the ultimate power. And then, he was killed–horribly murdered on his own lands, leaving the house to stand as a vacant monument to his wickedness. But once a door is opened, it can never really be closed.

Now, the stars are right. The gateway is ready to once more unleash unspeakable horror upon the town of Harmony, Indiana. And this will be one Halloween that they will never forget!

Spook House is Michael West's latest Harmony, Indiana novel, joining Cinema of Shadows, The Wide Game, and short stories such as Goodnight, and For the River is Wide and the Gods are Hungry. This book includes interior illustrations from award-winning artist Matthew Perry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Every Town Has a Spook House 4 June 2015
By Bruce J Blanchard - Published on Amazon.com

No town called Harmony should have the Fuller spook house, though every town has got to have one of them even if the legend doesn't meet the reality. In this case, Yes. The old Fuller house is a spook house bringing the bravest of souls into its interior. Sheri's boyfriend feels the tug with no return to the safety of the night. Sheri survives the ordeal of a hideous spider-dog. Bring on the hero Robby, the EMT, he with a mysterious past never totally revealed - why!!! Anyway, Something is released and terrorizes the countryside. Bring on the grand tracker. Bring on the religious fanatic, an evil meanie if there ever was one. He goes to the heart of those unfortunate to meet him - damn that seducing Irish accent. Bring on the no-nonsense, action filled FBI agent. Piling trouble on trouble is the project of said Fuller place as a Hallowe'en haunt (will they never learn!). Bring on the horrors and open the portals in a grand slam ending the Winchester boys of Supernatural would approve.
Spook House by Michael West is no great shakes for great literature and never intended to be in that vein. The reader can see the movie being filmed as they read along with each turning page. The efforts of the heroes getting to meet each other and joining in synch after proper banter. Show the villainous scenes of the religious fanatic and his awesome power. The book was meant to be written for enjoyment. That said, one feature of the book drove me to distraction and that was the inevitable use of italics, over used. As a writer and reader, I understand, though too much of a good thing, you know the rest. Those interested in a fun horror read will enjoy this book with its few flaws here and there. Don't take it too serious and have a good time.

I had heard of this author, in many of my circles, but hadn't tried him out yet. Until now! The cover of this book caught my eye, and I couldn't resist. Who doesn't love a haunted house story? I sure do! And I'm glad to tell you that this author doesn't disappoint! I found myself literally racing to the end of this. And now I'm curious to find out about all the other tie ins to other books from this author!! I think I may have just found myself a new favorite!!!

I just finished reading "Spook House" and it was FANTASTIC! Great story, believable characters, perfect amount of detail, engaging writing style, and no distractions from the story with flash or sex that other authors need to keep their readers interested. I've got to get some more Michael West books!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good thrillride 14 January 2014

I’ve had this one on my shelf for awhile because it’s the 3rd book of the series and I hadn’t read the first 2 but I finally said screw it and read it anyways. I was glad I did and it wasn’t necessary to read the first 2 to enjoy this one. From what I can gather by reviews, all the books take place in the same town and have a few of the same characters but there is no huge storyline that you miss out on by not reading the others.

There’s a haunted house where years ago, the owner was trying to open a portal to another world and it now seems that after a couple venture to the house, it’s even closer to be opened. Only now the local fire department is setting up for a haunted house in the haunted house.

This was a pretty good thrill ride, some great action and likeable characters. I would definitely recommend it and I plan on putting some more Michael West books in my wish list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Visual and compelling 22 February 2013

Great story. I looked at the cover art and thought it was over the top, and usually books with over the top cover art turn out be schlock, but this was a fun-fest of horrors. Actually, the story could be described as a bit over the top, but in that good way that horror fans like myself gobble right up.

I downloaded this for free a while back, and I saw the same author wrote Cinema of Shadows, which I thoroughly enjoyed, so it was a no brainer.

An elaborate spook house is set up for Halloween, and wouldn't you know it? There really are supernatural goings on! The cover art is actually a good representation of the novel.

At the end, I read the short bio for Michael West and saw that he stages a haunted house in his garage every year for Halloween. It clicked, you can tell the author had fun writing this. He writes with confidence, which elevates what could have been silly into a truly disturbing study in terror.

All in all, Spook House should entertain anyone with a desire to curl up with a good book.
