Whilst I did have a few reservations about the plotting in the other Kelly BL reissue, I was delighted by the standard of the writing. In this welcome 1961 reissue , we have some good plotting ( not outstanding) and tremendous writing . The characterisations are memorable as indeed is all the scene settings in the various pottery towns . So much has changed there in only 60 years .
I suspect different readers will either feel sorry for ,or annoyed by , the main characters ; it will depend on so many personal viewpoints. It is this breadth of approach in a tightly knit setting which is so memorable. Hats off to Martin Edwards and the BL team . I hope the decision to reissue this ;possibly not an obvious one; will be met with first class sales figures.
