The main premise of "Spirits Can Help God Heal Us" is expressed clearly in its title, which provides readers with a working model by which to better understand how this might be so. Physician and theologian Busby begins this book with an overview of soul and spirit, and the way that these have been recognized historically, in religious context, and how a body of evidence for soul and spirit is arising now in modern times. Busby includes insightful questions and answers from Kardec's "The Spirits Book," outlining the basis by which humans spiritually evolve over lifetimes, and how souls and spirits interact with us.
Douglas Busby shares many of his detailed first-hand observations of spiritual healings performed by John of God in Brazil, over the course of eight separate two-week visits. Despite not having introduced himself as either a medical doctor or priest, spirits present at John of God's healing center correctly surmised that Busby was both, inviting him to participate in various roles during healings performed at John of God's Brazilian healing center.
Busby includes detailed examples of many of the healing experiences conducted by spiritist Harry Edwards in the form of case studies, and also details the guidelines Edwards recommends for best facilitating healing for oneself and others, including sending 'remote' non-local or distant healing.
I highly recommend Spirits Can Help God Heal Us for anyone interested in healing, curious about how John of God's healing center operates, or who'd like to better appreciate how we can heal and help others heal with help from spirits and God.
