A one-of-a-kind bar with a colorful batch of regulars who tell stories, exchange terrible puns, and meet strangers—human and alien alike—who are drawn to this 'saloon' where "shared pain is lessened, shared joy is increased."
"If one were given the task of creating Spider Robinson from scratch, the best way to do it would be to snatch James Joyce from history, force-feed him Marx Brothers films and good jazz for the better part of a decade, then turn him loose on a world badly in need of a look at itself."
- The Vancouver Sun

THE LIFEHOUSE TRILOGY is comprised of three books by Hugo Award-winning author Spider Robinson: MINDKILLER, TIME PRESSURE, and LIFEHOUSE.
MINDKILLER: Wireheads are a new form of junkie who feed electric currents into the pleasure centers of their brains. Karen, an ex-wireheader, and Joe, a professional thief, work to bring down the powers that be behind Wireheading, only to discover a much larger conspiracy…
TIME PRESSURE: A beautiful time-traveller from the far future appears near a hippie commune in the wintery mountains of Nova Scotia, prompting revelations and terror about the future of humanity.
LIFEHOUSE: Con artists Jack and June dupe science fiction fans Wally and Moira in a time traveller scheme. But when actual time travelers pursue Jack and June, they must work with their marks to find the travelers first, and restore a wiped memory.
"A Master!"
- Locus
“Like Heinlein in his prime, Mr. Robinson writes a crisp, tightly controlled prose about a future that is recognizably descended from today’s world, yet provocatively altered.”
- The New York Times
"If one were given the task of creating Spider Robinson from scratch, the best way to do it would be to snatch James Joyce from history, force-feed him Marx Brothers films and good jazz for the better part of a decade, then turn him loose on a world badly in need of a look at itself."

The Free Lunch
10/02/2011
$6.43
On the run from a terrible past, twelve-year-old Mike seeks refuge in America's most beloved theme park, Dreamworld. On yet another attempt to "disappear" into Dreamworld, Mike is helped by Annie, a woman has successfully hidden in Dreamworld for years.
Mike faces many challenges: he must help stop hired killers who seek to destroy his new home, and also help uncover the nature and purpose of some very strange creatures who are infiltrating Dreamworld.
Praised by The New York Times as "an homage to the lighter side of Robert A. Heinlein", this is a clever and compassionate novel for Robinson and Heinlein lovers alike.
“The Free Lunch is a fast-moving homage to the lighter side of Robert A. Heinlein”
- The New York Times
"You get much more than you bargained for in this fun-filled-yet-serious novel. Spider's the antidote for entropy, the blahs, and the pernicious notion that humor and good grace are absent from the SF field." - Ben Bova
"The Free Lunch" is a three course meal: adventure, humor, and solid extrapolation. Spider Robinson is a master storyteller, and this novel is one of his best. Bon appetite!" - Allen Steele

Opening night at Mary’s Place draws the refugees from the now-defunct Callahan’s Bar; and bartender Jake Stonebender quickly learns that Mary’s Place attracts as many bizarre events and persons – including a drunken leprechaun – as its beloved predecessor. The story, says Booklist, “hangs together on the strength of Jake's appealing voice and the bar scene, which is hip and witty.”
Written by Hugo and Nebula-Award winning author Spider Robinson.

Callahan's Key
01/03/2016
$8.40
Jake Stonebender has lots of experience with time travelers. After all, in his Key West bar—where he and many of his ex-hippie friends are moving in a total of 20 buses—he'll continue the tradition established by the original time-traveling owner of the Callahan's Bar: "Shared pain is lessened, shared joy increased."
The US defense orbiting system, due to a freak bombardment, has turned into a doomsday machine that threatens humanity. It will take Jake's extraordinary skills, along with those of his baby daughter, resurrected genius Nikola Tesla and others, including the talking dog Ralph Van Wau Wau and Heinlein's wandering cat, to save the universe—once again!
"Robinson should please old fans and win new ones. If nothing else, you'll come to love the eclectic cast of dozens, including everything from a talking baby (Jake's teleporting, superhacker daughter) to a talking German shepherd (Ralph Van Wau Wau) to—why not?—the forgotten father of the 20th century, Nikola Tesla.” As Publisher's Weekly wrote, " True to form, he constructs the end of the universe from some mind-bending but solid science... Fans and the uninitiated alike will devour this intoxicating blend of character comedy and hard SF, for Robinson's writing remains as potentially addictive and as full of earthy delight as Stonebender's famed Irish coffee."
From PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY:
The universe is again threatened with destruction, but fans of Jake Stonebender and his team will fear not, for they know that these heroes will not only save the day but will make it safely to happy hour. At the outset of the latest book in Nebula-winner Robinson's series of feel-good SF romps, we find Stonebender frustrated by the failure of his bar, Callahan's, and by the fact that none of his 50 closest friends still live near his Long Island home. So, in exchange for the chance to move with his friends, his wife and his wunderkind toddler to Key West, where he'll open a new watering hole, Jake accepts an assignment from famed scientist Nikola Tesla to save the universe. The narrative progresses as Jake and company board 20 buses for the road trip down to Florida, during which they party, clash with the fuzz and meet a talking German shepherd (complete with accent) and Robert Heinlein's cat, Pixel. Along the way, Robinson delivers some amusing good times and an inspirational description of a space shuttle launch. True to form, he constructs the end of the universe from some mind-bending but solid science, and he proves as consummate at maintaining suspense as he is at keeping the laughs coming. Fans and the uninitiated alike will devour this intoxicating blend of character comedy and hard SF, for Robinson's writing remains as potentially addictive and as full of earthy delight as Stonebender's famed Irish coffee.
From LIBRARY JOURNAL:
The universe faces total annihilation, and Jake Stonebender, former proprietor of the now-defunct Mary!s Place, his wife, Zoey, and an assortment of oddball friends answer the call to arms"after they relocate from Long Island to the warmer climes of Key West. The latest addition to Robinson’s Callahan novels features his usual blend of homegrown wisdom and laconic humor and includes a guest appearance by the late Nikola Tesla (Uncle Nikky). Series fans will welcome this unabashedly rollicking sf adventure. Recommended for most collections.

$7.68
Terrifying aliens (that the surviving humans call Muskies) seem to have appeared on Earth at the same time a scientist named Wendell Carlson, now hiding out in the ruins of New York's Columbia University, is believed to have unleashed the "hyperosmic plague," destroying much of the world's population. Narrator Jacob Stone is determined to exact vengeance -- but finds that his assumptions about who unleashed the plague and the nature of the Muskies are false.
Jacob returns to his home across the river in New Jersey with a different, no less violent plan -- but finds himself in conflict with his community and wild, roving bands. His life and that of his future wife are in danger, and he must exercise every physical and mental skill -- including telepathic communication with the Muskies -- to save himself, his community, and the remains of civilization.
Acclaimed first novel by the author of MINDKILLER, CALLAHAN'S CROSSTIME SALOON and many others, including VARIABLE STAR by Robert A. Heinlein and Spider Robinson.
Spider Robinson is the 2008 winner of the Robert A. Heinlein Award for Lifetime Excellence in Literature, three-time winner of the Hugo Award, and winner of the Nebula Award for the novella STARDANCE, written with his wife Jeanne Robinson.

Jake Stonebender's bar in Key West gets a visit from mafioso Tony Donuts, who is looking for "protection money". Jake and the barflies have other challenges as well, as when Jake's wife is suddenly lost in a space-time continuum... Publishers Weekly says, "Blend a madcap plot involving the legendary Fountain of Youth with a zany cast of barflies, garnish with a thin SF twist, and you've got the ingredients for the latest frothy concoction in Hugo-winner Robinson's (Callahan's Key) multivolume tall tale."
"The wordplay flies fast and funny as always in a Callahan's romp, and the characters, regular and new, are pretty darn amusing. "
