Product Description

Spencer Cohen is the guy who gets answers to relationship questions. Playing the role of the new lover, his job is to make his client’s ex realise one of two things: he doesn’t want to break up or he really does. Either way, his client gets answers.

The ex would either apologize and beg, or turn and walk. But in the end, Spencer’s client won. If he wanted his ex back and got him, it was great. If the guy walked away, then as hard it was for the client, he knew it was over. Regardless of the outcome, Spencer’s work was done.

Andrew Landon’s ex left him without so much as an explanation. But his sister can’t stand to see him miserable, so, much to Andrew’s dismay, they hire Spencer to be Andrew’s new boyfriend to get the ex back.

For Spencer, it is never personal. Merely a business transaction. No emotions, no strings, no complications.

Yeah right.

Even a blind man could see how this would end.

I love NR Walker. I can't believe I waited so long to read her books. They have all been fantastic. Awesome characters you can't help but love who are flawed in the most beautiful ways.
Spencer was such a breath of fresh air. This was such a funny, smart, amazing and sweet book about getting to know someone and it just made me happy. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

A wonderful introduction to the series. I really loved getting to know both guys and their instant attraction. Spencer captured my heart from the beginning, super cool, living in LA but still keeping his Aussie side. I love his patience and and the slow building burn with Andrew. It's going to have me on the edge of my seat to see where they go in the next book but I'm so thankful to the author that we won't have to wait too long. Original concept, lovable MC's and a great supporting cast, what's not to love.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED 19 February 2016

I went into this book without knowing anything about it other than the title and what that ridiculously amazing cover looked like. It’s N.R. Walker so honestly I didn’t need to know more. This author has already proven herself to be a fantastic story teller. If you haven’t read anything by her then you are seriously missing out. So when I was given the opportunity to read this, there was no way I was going to say no. Hell yes was more like it. Well this amazingly talented author has once again delivered. Spencer Cohen is an amazing start to a new beginning.

The story starts off with Spencer taking on a new job as Andrew’s fake boyfriend. Andrew wants his ex back and making him jealous is surely going to make that happen right? This is all supposed to be a simple transaction. Spencer does the job he’s hired to do, gets answers for Andrew one way or the other and doesn’t get emotionally invested, then he moves on. Right? Well… Let me tell you, right away, a few pages in, you just know this is going to be a good story. I was immediately pulled into the story. The characters are fresh, the story is tantalizing and it’s just brilliantly written. No doubt about it.

Spencer is this lumber trendy, confident guy. He’s good at his job and never gets attached. His honesty and bluntness had me laughing out loud pretty much the second I met him. This guy is quite the character.

Andrew is the quiet, subtle, artistic guy who is oblivious to how sexy and cool he really is. The minute these two are together you know lines will get blurred eventually. The banter, and spark between these two is immediate and electric. You just know that there is no way this is going to stay professional.

This story is one seriously sweet and flirty, unique story. What I loved the most about this story is the fact that we didn’t get a single sex scene. NO SEX WHAT??? YEP you heard me right NOT ONE. However let me tell you what we do get. We get to see two characters really and truly get to know one another. We get to see a relationship build, trust build and more importantly we get to feel how much desire is coursing through these characters. This author brilliantly turned up the sexual tension and the fact that there is so much lust, want, need and desire crackling between the characters where you can feel it, makes it so you don’t even miss it. LIKE REALLY FELT IT. I love my sex in books, like where I pretty much need it in there somewhere so it’s pretty telling when not having a sex scene didn’t even bother me. The way N.R. Walker wrote this story made it so much more satisfying. NO LIE.

I don’t’ want to go into to any more detail but just know N.R. Walker does not disappoint. She delivers on every front with this story. And you might just be surprised with how sometimes less is more. I cannot wait for the next book. I need it like yesterday. Absolutely amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! 8 March 2016
By More Books 2 Read Please - Published on

N. R. Walker, I'm in awe of your writing ability. I have read almost everything you have written and I can honestly say that this is I can't get enough!!!
So this book's Dedication says it all. "This book is dedicated to every Spencer out there: for those who have lost everything but still have hope, for those too afraid to love again but crave it all the same, for those who have been through hell yet are still strong enough to smile, and for those who wear their scars inked into their skin." Who out there can relate to some part of that dedication. If I wasn't an N.R. Walker fan already, the dedication alone would have made me open this book.

Then I started reading this tender book that introduces Spencer and Andrew to us for the first time. I just couldn't put it down. Spencer is funny, smart, and according to Andrew; "You look like your straight out of the pages of 'Trendy LA'." Andrew is shy, super smart, and according to Spencer; "I had you from 'Sexy Nerd'." The chemistry between these two grows. Unfortunately, Spencer's job is a complication for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars You are going to love Spencer and Andrew! 19 February 2016

Every once in a while there's that book you read that just hits everything the right way, so much so that it leaves one hell of a book hangover when you finish. Spencer Cohen was exactly that kind of book for me. From the author's first description of Spencer, I was hooked and THEN she introduced Andrew and I melted. In one book I have my sexy geek with an awesome job, and my retro dressing, tattooed ginger who views music as a major part of his life.

Spencer's a reluctant transplant from Australia, now living in the US for the last few years. He's created an interesting life for himself working as a relationship 'fixer'. He is hired to make the newly ex-boyfriends of his clients, both male and female, realize that they still want to be with that person. Or his role solidifies that yes, his client's ex is going to stay an ex. This works well for Spencer's own outlook on life, no attachments, and no messy emotions to distract from his current path and plan. Then he meets his newest client Andrew, and from the first moment he's attracted to him. This sexy yet, geekily dressed, cartoon animation artist who is trying to figure out why his boyfriend of 8 months has decided he needed to step back from their relationship.

So sets the stage for Andrew and Spencer to get to know each other while working to get Andrew's ex, Eli back. As they get to know each other and spend more time together both eventually realize there is a lot of mutual attraction, and even some good old fashioned sexy lust. Of course they have Andrew's sister secretly cheering them on, and Spencer's friends not so secretly hoping that Andrew is the one to change Spencer's outlook on love.

Spencer Cohen ends as a HFN work in progress between Spencer and Andrew because let's face it they've only known each other a little more than week by the end of the book. I'm completely happy with where the story ended because I know we have two more books coming in this series. The second book is due to release mid-March, and the third in mid to late April. Which gives me plenty of time to do a re-read of this book.

So do you think I liked Spencer Cohen? Why YES, I really, really liked Spencer Cohen. The story was just different enough even with a familiar 'pretend boyfriend' plot, the characters were really well crafted, and the pacing and conflict of the story were spot on. You've got a great supporting cast in Spencer's friends and Andrew's sister, interesting sites for them to explore together, and both main characters have a lot of common interests. I have a feeling we've just scraped the top of both of their backstories and that alone will keep me intrigued going forward. Plus, these two are seriously and adorkably perfect for each other.

I was left with a huge smile on my face and lots of smooshy feels by the end of this book, along with a major love for both characters. I can only say this is one that you need to buy and devour immediately so you, too can get hooked on Spencer and Andrew.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing beginning to a new series 19 February 2016
By QUEERcentric Books - Published on

Reviewed by Nikki K. for QUEERcentric Books

The Spencer Cohen Series, Book One by N.R. Walker was an amazing beginning to a new series. The first of three books, Book One brilliantly introduced Spencer and Andrew, and set up what will no doubt become one of my favorite series.

Spencer Cohen helps people find closure. When your boyfriend dumps you for some unknown reason, you can hire Spencer to help you get answers. It’s an interesting job, though it makes it hard for Spencer to cultivate his own relationships.

Until Andrew.

From the very beginning, there’s something about Andrew that Spencer likes. The more time they spend together, the greater the feeling grows, and the more he doesn’t want to help Andrew get his ex back.

I adored everything about this book. Spencer’s tattoos, Andrew’s artistic abilities, Spencer’s friends, magazine cover jokes, Aussie jokes, and so much more. So much more!

Plus, I haven’t even mentioned how good the writing itself was yet. N.R. does such a great job telling a story. She sucks you in with the interesting premise, and then delivers with fascinating characters, hilarious dialogue, and a kick to the feels at the end that makes you crave the next installment.

I’d heard a few good things about this book before I started it, but I wasn’t expecting to completely fall in love with Spencer and Andrew. I love when MCs take care of each other. Nothing shows you care like calling a restaurant to make sure they don’t use shellfish in their dishes because the person you are eating dinner with is allergic.

The Spencer Cohen Series, Book One isn’t full of angst, which is just fine with me. It’s a wonderfully character-driven story about recognizing your own self-worth. Spencer and Andrew are sweet, caring, and extremely likable. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars want to get the love of your life back 22 February 2016
By TJ - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
My bruised bank balance is proof of my weakness for NR Walker's work. She creates unique multi-dimensional characters that pull at the reader's heart strings. The Spencer Cohen series is proof of this.

Spencer is from Australia and has made a niche for himself in LA. Had your heartbroken, want to get the love of your life back, or to find out if it is truly time to let go and move on? Then Spencer is your man. Spencer uses the simple principle that sometimes we just need to be reminded of what we had and basic jealously to get the job done.

Spencer has a great personality, a love for Jeff Beck music and he carries a deep hurt inflicted by his family. He lives life on his terms keeping the risk of more pain at a minimum. It works for him until he meets his new client Andrew.

Andrew is perfect... perfect for Spencer. The getting to know you phase, Spencer uses as part of his job becomes personal. It feels natural, like he and Andrew are dating and experiencing the wonder and awe of getting to know someone you connect with. This feels like it could be MORE and Spencer is frightened. He suddenly finds himself wanting to let down the walls. He wants MORE.

Andrew's sister and Spencer's friends (complete with a car named Cindy Crawford) help round out the book. I want to spend more time with Spencer, Andrew and the people in their world. I am looking forward to the next book.
