5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book !!! 4 July 2014
By Candice - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I started reading this story thinking I knew exactly how the story was going to go. I was wrong. This story completely blew me away. This is the story of two friends who struggle with their true feelings for each other. Jake had so many tragic things happen in his life that it left him a little insecure of who his true friends were and who he could trust. Rick and Samantha are his two friends that were dating each other. They had an off and on relationship. Jake always had feelings for Samantha but he was confused if his feelings were friendship or love. Samantha had feelings for Jake also but was scared to voice them. If their secret feelings came out how would it affect the relationship they both had with Rick? Was Rick really who Samantha thought he was? This was a good story with lots of twists and turns and I enjoyed it a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! 1 July 2015

I loved this story. It just grabbed me and took me along for the ride. The tale of these three friends is such a great journey, I didn't want it to end. The author nailed the dynamics of a three way friendship. The sadness of Jake, the jock- Rick, and the perfect girlfriend in Sam. These three characters gelled so well, they seemed real. This is definitely going in the reread often pile. I didn't find anything flawed about this story. It just works.
Jake has had his fill of tragedy. As a pre teen, he was in a horrific car crash that took almost everyone in his family. The only one left for him is his grandfather. His injuries from the crash follow him to adulthood. He has a bad limp and has a lot of pain when he overdoes it. But he has his friends. Sam is the girl next door. She is sweet and very loyal. Rick is his next door neighbor and has a big family. Jake is part of them, even though it also makes him sad. Rick is a jock. And he is dating Sam now. Jake never figured that anyone would want to date him. Until Rick's sister, Jenny, tells him of his crush. It is his first girlfriend, and his bff's come around quickly. But when Jake faces tragedy again, it is Sam and Rick whose caring opens Jake's eyes. When goals no longer line up, the group faces some tough choices and things take on a direction you don't expect. Can these three besties weather the storm, or will the latest choices divide them forever? Love has a way of finding the right people, but are they ready?

5.0 out of 5 stars Expect the unexpected 14 April 2014

This wasn't at all what I expected to read. Its probably a good part of the reason i liked it so much. Most books you pick can tell where its going to go and who ends up with who in the end. You dont get that with this story at all and it rocked.

The characters were well developed. Felt for all of them in different ways though had a harder time identifying with Rick bit its not because he wasnt developed its just as a character its not someone id hang out with.

Jake stood out for me the most because through the whole story he seemed so freakin real. Its a sign of a good writer when the characters dont seem out of this world or unbelieveable. i hate that kind of thing but this...he was definitely real and about more than just one solitary thing.

this is a great book and if you take a chance on it...expect the unexpected. its amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pull at your heartstrings kind of story... 12 February 2014

I enjoyed Theresa's first outing, so I was excited for this one and she didn't disappoint. This story held an interesting dynamic between three best friends that I was so glad to see explored in greater detail. It wasn't the typical situation between friends and I suppose that's what made it that much more appealing to me. My heart went out to Jake almost immediately and there are points throughout where his situation just rips you apart. It was brilliant really. I wanted the ugly tears that came. lol. With this story, you need to expect the unexpected. What you see on the surface may not be how it appears and that is why I could not put this down until it was done. Brilliant read, absolutely loved it.

A Special Connection is one of those books that just sits with you for a while. Long after I finished, I couldn't shake it, it felt as if Theresa's characters leapt from the pages and came alive before me. There was something so real and suspenseful about this book that kept me wide awake at night. I have never read something so full of life, so vibrant and true to it's core! The friendship and connections Theresa paints are wholesome and intense, your emotions become theirs. I was left speechless with this book and can't wait for what Theresa writes next! A fan for life! This book will leave you reeling and keep you coming back long after you've finished! You will not be disappointed!
