For twenty-seven years, she's kept her ability a secret, but eleven young women have been murdered in the mountains of North Carolina, and Sloan may be the only hope of finding their killer.

She has just agreed to help Detective Nathan McNamara with the case, when a stranger--who is as alluring as he is terrifying--shows up at her doorstep with a dark past and another puzzling mystery: she can't see his soul at all.

Talk about a love triangl! She crushed on a cop, cop is in like? With another girl.... Anyway.. It was messy.
I was fascinated with the way both can tell if someone is dead, alive, good or bad. One I guess can heal, the other? Oh don't make him mad.

I'm not going to spoil it to much, I enjoyed the story. Takes you on a wild ride.

Wow .... what a dynamic, fun, refreshing read this was! I enjoyed reading it so much that it was basically over before it began.
I loved the character Sloan Jordan and the constant play for her attention between the two boys, Detective Nathan McNamara and Warren Parish. However, you just know Sloan and Warren and are two halves of a whole .... something.
I can't wait to see if finds out what she really is. Highly recommended.

This was amazing!

I haven't laughed in such a long time in a murder mystery with a love triangle. Usually those things are beyond intense, and one love interest with bodies falling like flies is enough on a girl, but Sloan's got two and ten.

The writing was great with Sloan's POV and her angst about people finding out what she can do felt so realistic, especially with the responses she got. That's why I loved it even more when she handled it like a boss, and took it with a grace that had nothing on her gift of... er, collecting? It's so important for me to get into a book, and I fell right through, reading til my eyelids gave out and finishing up as soon as I woke up. It was that good.

The murder mystery was interesting with all the different characters coming and going, but I loved the connection between Sloan and Warren. So much going on with that; I love how smoothly it was delivered. Not once was I nervous about their relationship, and I definitely didn't have any bad feelings when she was with Nathan. If you can create a (and I use this word lightly) multiple relationship among two guys and still make it all work harmoniously and stuff, you are a writing deity.

On top of the murder and sexy men, I also enjoyed seeing Sloan's struggles with wanting a normal life she worked hard for and doing what was right. At times I got annoyed (just once, I swear) but her best friend, Adrienne, was right there to clear it all up for her (Bless you, Adrienne). The characters were all adorable with enough presence to move the story along and bring the story itself out of the love-triangle situation and back into the case. Nathan and Warren were so genuine that I honestly had a hard time choosing one in the beginning.

She’s kept her secret for twenty-seven years, but eleven young women have been murdered and Sloan Jordan may be the only hope of finding the killer and now Sloan is on the hunt for a deadly psychopath with two irresistible men in this thrilling paranormal romance.

Curiosity is immediately captured by Sloan as an intriguing conversation with her best friend leads to an eerie coincidence and which sets readers up for asking questions regarding Sloan and from there the intriguing events draw readers further into the story where expectation and excitement continues to build throughout. Well written scenes makes it easy for the reader to become caught up in Sloan’s story as unexpected twists keeps readers guessing and the suspense ensures that there is never a dull moment, since there is two mysteries to be solved, the dangerous search for a serial killer and the mysterious stranger who is as alluring and as he is terrifying because she can’t see his soul at all.

Sloan finds herself drawn to two irresistible men which provides lots of spice, romance and emotional turmoil to the story as well as more suspense and really adds depth to these strong, compelling characters as the readers really get a feel for the personalities and of course the situation also provides a bit of humor as the testosterone shakes things up and causes a few clashes between Nathan and Sloan’s stranger. The chemistry sizzles from every page and the plot is fast paced and flows smoothly with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.

The author has created a very intriguing world with interesting characters with some fascinating abilities, abilities that she’s attached a lot of mystery to for the characters as well as the readers so I couldn’t help but become caught up in all the suspense surrounding Sloan and I quite enjoyed the love triangle thing which provided lots of entertainment, so I am definitely looking forward to finding out what happens next in Sloan’s fascinating life.

“You know when you're out and you see someone you really feel like you know, but you can't remember how or who they are? I feel that way around everyone,” says Sloan Jordan. In Soul Summoner, Elicia Hyder captures the reader’s attention from the beginning - rather like a soul summoner herself - and doesn’t let go until the end of the book. This is the first book by Hyder that I have read, but it won’t be the last. Vera Loy

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Soul Summoner. I am now waiting to read book 2 and The Detective. This book had me wanting to constantly read to the very end. I was actually rooting for Nate all the way through and think they would make a lovely couple. This was my first Elicia Hyder book and it certainly won't be the last, certainly with her knack of writing with her crazy sayings and good funny comebacks it was brilliant.
