He grew up in Maryland and studied English at Skidmore College in New York. Brian is now a product director for a tech company, and first started writing about dragons to escape the crushing boredom of his incredibly long bus commute. Good storytelling. Didn't need the gay sex scene. A bit too 'woke" allround really.
Most male characters are boorish warmongering drunken killers whilst most females are portrayed as sharp intellectuals (albeit some are killers too).
Enjoyable enough, not sure if I'll bother with the last one.

I absolutely loved Blood of an Exile, the first book in the Dragons of Terra series, and this second installment does not disappoint! Sorcery of a Queen delivers more of everything I loved about the first book: fast-paced dark fantasy storytelling, even more dragons, and time with Bershad, Ashlyn, and the hilarious and genuine characters from the first book. The second book picks up right where Blood of an Exile leaves off, and we get to see the characters travel to a whole new country on their quest. I couldn't put the book down, and was completely drawn in by this expansion in the world. I especially loved some of the new characters introduced, including the hilarious, morose, ear-less pirate named Cabbage. Can't wait for book three!!!

Another excellent entry in the Dragons of Terra series. I described this book to a friend as, "It feels like the old pulpy adventure stories, but without all the troubling parts."

It really feels like you're reading an old school adventure novel, all the way down to a tough naked guy fighting pirates. This story dives into a lot more worldbuilding and exploration of the magic system, which I loved. Learning more about Osyrus Ward's history and his plans were some of my favorite parts of the story, with just enough mystery where everything was sufficiently spooky.

This second book definitely feels like it's setting up the third for a big payoff, so it did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it wasn't bad at all. I'm very excited to read the third book.

If you're a fan of epic fantasy, you know that we go through periods where everything published seems derivative. As one reviewer put it, you end up going back and re-reading your 'comfort books instead. This series is a relief from that. The characterizations are interesting and consistent, and the world is richly imagined. If you're not a fan of the overused idea of dragons -- and I'm not -- this series presents them as members of the animal kingdom, not flying horses, which I found refreshing. The series does get a bit far out there, but it's fantasy. And it's fun. Recommended.
