There is so much 'noise' out there in business, across every industry, category, segement which creates the ultimate challenge for ALL businesses - how to 'stand-out' and how to 'get attention'.
Social Media not only allows you to identify your target buyers, and research the hell out of them, but as Chris rightly says, it allows you to 'listen' and watch for clues and trigger events. Chris is also spot on that you don't 'sell' on social, but instead you use social media to engage and educate your target buyers. This is how sales will be done in the future.
