Another Brilliant Book By the Brilliant Lawyer & Author Gerry SpenceReviewed in the United States on 5 July 2018
Is there anything that Gerry Spence has written that hasn't been brilliant? Every book of his is the equivalent of a personal tutorial from the master himself. He writes so clearly, so personally, and is eloquent in every way. In all his books, this one included, Spence draws from his personal experiences to provide profound lessons. There are few lawyers who have had the experience and wisdom as Spence, who have fought as ferociously for fairness--for the poor as well as the rich. That's one of the most compelling aspects of Spence's books: he is committed to the law and fairness, first and always. Each book is told with riveting stories that emphasize the law. One doesn't have to be a lawyer to admire Spence's work; to the contrary. His works are accessible to all readers. They are full of insights, wisdom, humor, and poignancy. He provides life lessons in how to read others, in how to size up one's opponent in all arenas of life, and those lessons are lasting. This book is very special, the icing on the cake of an illustrious career as lawyer and author.

Spence's wisdom is worth the price of entryReviewed in the United States on 23 June 2020
I've followed the career of Gerry Spence for a long time after I learned my dad met him in the 1970s. It was very interesting to read the thoughts and quotes Spence wrote over the years. He's definitely a larger-than-life character in the courtroom. I've seen him speak several times and he's quite Shakespearian. The quotes definitely match that thought. Some of the deeper courtroom quotes weren't as exciting, as I'm not a lawyer and hope never to have to be in court. Should I end up there one day, I'll definitely pick this book back up off the shelf and read it prior to heading in. Well worth the price of admission.
Short, but sweet.Reviewed in the United States on 27 June 2018
More wisdom and truth in those few pages than volumes of books ghost written by political pundits. It gave me much to ponder and reread.
