It is a very heartfelt story and so many moments getting annoyed as so wanted Libby to actually tell George how she really feels.
Libby is a romance writer who uses an excuse of her work to keep moving around following past hurts with her family. Her writing has come to a bit of a halt and she starts to help George preparing him to start dating again. They have a very close relationship being like this since coming here 6 months ago.
Throughout the process they learn to help each other to grow, each time extending the rules until Libby falls totally in love, George has already reached this point months ago but the delay is in talking honestly to each other.
This one includes a new couple too - Amy and Seb, the background and lead up is so funny you will totally have laugh out loud moments without thinking.
Along the way you will get more snippets, of the other people you have learnt to love in book 1 this is a great touch and I find this helpful in knowing how each relationship is progressing rather than loads of unanswered questions.
This was a great story I wasn't aware prior to picking it up that it runs along the same timeline as book 1 Christmas at Lilac Cottage, that said you don't need to have read book 1 to be able to follow this story but if you have read book 1 you will notice little things that will make sense to you. There were a couple of things I predicted once I realised the books ran alongside each other but it didn't spoil the storyline any. And I'm tempted to re read book one to see if anything there will point in the direction of book two now I've read it.
This story grabbed me from page 1 and had me up until the early hours three nights running in order to finish it as I couldn't bear to put it down and when I did I couldn't wait to return to reading it.
The humour throughout the book had me tittering along and it felt as though the humour suited my age range with references to films and people that made sense to me. Though I'd love to use examples of bits I laughed out loud at I also don't want to add spoilers but the humour ranged from smirking right up to nearly chocking on my coffee. Though the humour wasn't the only emotion through the story as it was a very endearing relationship too. I've definately spent the last 3 days smiling though.
I loved the easy going relationship between George and Libby but the other characters in the community around them made the story more rich and fulfilled as they grew to become friends.
Can't wait for book 3 out next month though it will be different seeing White Cliff Bay I the summer after two Christmas stories, will make a great holiday read though I'm in no doubt about that.
All the books are standalone and can be read independently of each other, but Holly does refer to characters from the other books in this delightful series set in White Cliff Bay.
Libby is helping George get back into the dating game after a particularly nasty divorce when all his self worth was crushed into tiny pieces, but all is not what it seems as behind the facade are 2 people who fall in love with each other but don't know how to tell the other.
Along with Libby and George's story is Amy and Sebs too; having lost his wife Marie in a car accident 5 years before, Seb has taken for Amy but his Mother-In-Law Judith takes an instant dislike to Amy, not only that she is still mourning Marie and feels Seb should be too; Verity, George's Mum is on hand to help Judith through this difficult time.
I really enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to get started on the next book in the series. I really hope there are more to come. I do have a passion for books in series, which are set in small villages either here or in the USA.
Please Holly, bring us more about the inhabitants of White Cliff Bay...
