The fourth in the D.I. Jack Dylan series, set in Yorkshire and written by the husband and wife team who are the storyline consultants to TV's Happy Valley and Scott & Bailey.

When hairdresser Kayleigh Harwood is reported missing by her mother in the worst blizzards Harrowfield has experienced in years, D.I. Jack Dylan and his team are called in. Kayleigh's car is found abandoned with her mobile phone inside but there is no sign of her. At the edge of the local quarry on the desolate Yorkshire moors, items of clothing are found. They are identified as belonging to the hairdresser, and an intense police search of the area begins.

The investigation turns to a loner living close to where Kayleigh's car was discovered, and it soon becomes apparent to the investigators that the loner is hiding a bizarre secret.

To Dylan's disbelief Divisional Commander Hugo-Watkins assumes that skeletal remains found in a lay-by are connected to the young woman's disappearance, and without seeking Dylan's advice, calls out the entire Major Incident Team. Refusing to be distracted, Dylan and his team continue to work round the clock in the hope of finding Kayleigh alive.

Meanwhile Dylan's wife, Jen, is distracted and distant. Unbeknown to him her ex fiancé is in their midst, and stalking her.

Snow Kills grabs your attention from the first page. You are given an insight into what happens to a young girl when she is stranded in her car one evening during the worst snow blizzard for twenty years. The book takes you through D.I Dylan and his team investigating if the young girl is still alive or dead. I must say I went through every emotion possible reading this book loving many of the characters and disliking a few. Knowing that this is a novel as true to life as it's going to get keeps the hairs on your arms tingling and your heart pounding especially as D.I. Dylan get closer to solving the mystery. There is so much going on with so many twists and turns that it keeps your attention throughout the book and there is no way you can put it down till you get to the end of the Book!
D.I Dylan has grown on me over the series and I love his relationships at work as well as his private life, he is not a man to be messed with that's for sure but a man with a emotional heart and high standards.
This is a series that you will love if you enjoy Crime/Mystery I can only say read it you will be amazed at the writing ability of this author and his wife. Truly brilliant!!

I tried so hard not to read this book too fast as I knew it was the last one, but I honestly couldn't put it down.

From page one I was completely immersed in it and, in a detraction from the three other books, we know who the killer is from early on in the book....or do we? That is the question.

DI Jack Dylan is under pressure to find Kayleigh Harwood, a 19 year old who disappeared on White Wednesday, the day of heavy snowfall. During the course of the investigation Jack has personal problems of his own which are obviously causing him great concern.

It is the usual fast paced brilliant Police investigative work which I have come to know and love and I just couldn't wait to find out the outcome.

If I am being particularly pedantic (sorry!) there are the usual missing words and spelling mistakes, ie visa versa, but I do believe that, in time, the mistakes will completely disappear and will be as equally enjoyable as these four have been.

I do hope there is enough life left in Jack for more books as I just love them and him!

Kayleigh disappears on White Wednesday, the worst snow storm in 20 years. We, the readers, share most of her disappearance but it is all unknown to the police who, nevertheless, almost immediately home in on the nearest homeowner to her abandoned car as the likeliest suspect. I loved the way the narrowness of Kayleigh's world in her snow bound car is mirrored by the narrowness of the investigation. There is no breadth to the plot, only depth, by which I mean that Dylan and his team have their suspect so their problem is proving it and sorting through his lies rather than a wide search for an unknown perpetrator. I also liked the way the authors naturally introduce some of the problems facing the modern police force like budgets, lack of resources and police violence as it lets us see it from their point of view and the way they intersperse the investigation with Dylan's homelife as it rounds out his character. Did I find any negatives? All the criminals had some kind of physical or mental defect instead of just being bad but this is a minor point and I thought it added to the humour in the book. I found this to be a very good read and was up far too late finishing it.

Think this is the best yet in the DI Dylan series. Great insight into police procedure which obviously comes from the writer's career; eagerly awaiting next instalment. I would certainly have awarded five stars but for the grammatical and typing errors which occur throughout the book. I may be a "soft Southerner" but I had a friend from Bolton and even she quaked when someone announced they were "sat" at their desk. Perhaps the local "dialect" adds to the narrative if you come from the area but I'm afraid it really grates on me.
