My 6kg cats are able to attack it without a single sign of a wobble, and they’re able to sit on the top too. My smaller cat can curl up on top.
To get your cats to approach it, sprinkle some catnip around and scratch the post with your fingers. Mine eventually came round to it. I put mine around an area that my cats usually scratch to encourage them to scratch the post instead.
I am actually amazed at how good this is, I think the price is a steal after buying it.
If you have cats that scratch everything up you need to buy this.
But this IS the Ultimate Scratching post.
It's huge. As big as just about any cat could reach up. It's solid, with a solid wood base not just some cheapo chipboard crap. The sisal rope is all around unlike others you see just on one side. Included was some catnip[ as well to help get your cat used to the new scratching post.

I have 2 cats, they use this all the time- every day! It's the most amazing scratching post I've ever bought! So sturday! 1 side is all scratched and used since its nearly 2 years old! so I've turned it around to the other side and the cats are continuing to scratch it.
Trust me.. BEST scratching post ever!!
Nonetheless, I'm giving this 5 stars since it's still a quality, sturdy and effective scratch post at a cost which is more than reasonable. Noodles the cat began to use it instantly and is still doing so after a week since purchase - enticed with a bit of cat nip in the seams at eaither side. The cissal holds up well.
Despite the picture being misleading, this still looks like a piece of furniture. I'd even go as far to say that it looks good as something in the room.
Get one. Just expect the pale blocks of wood.
We use it for out adult male European Shorthair cat.
We bought this during a Black Friday Deal, so it was slightly cheaper than the RRP.
- Tall (cat can stretch out fully upwards)
- Heavy (won't tip)
- Wrapped with woven sisal NOT a corded rope (ropes are glued on and often detach from the scratcher) this will not.
- Long lasting (sisal hasn't shown any wear, even with good use)
- HUGE (this thing becomes a room FEATURE, it won't disappear into the background!)
- No sisal on the base (our can likes to scratch at the floor too. With this he can't)
- Assembly was unexpected (panels of wood are MDF and come as 2 pieces - not as shown in the product description, required assembly)
All in all, our cat took to it quickly and it looks like it will last a lifetime, if not longer, but it is very large.
Put simply, our two cats love them. So much so that we bought a second a few months after buying the first, and will likely buy a third.
As scratching posts go, they are big. They are of sufficient height to enable a fully vertical scratch and are sturdy/stable enough not to move/wobble around when being used as such. In fact, when one of our cats does his nightly "I'm going to tear around the house like crazy" sprints, he springboards off of the top of one of these and it still hardly moves. The cats are also much less interested in the furniture, much to my delight!
They were 100% right.
I'd give this 100 stars if I could. I've got 4 cats, all of whom love a good scratch. They had a big climbing frame which they destroyed, and I thought this would be ideal.
It was. They have tried as hard as possible, and it barely looks used.
Simple to assemble, just join the 2 wooden base pieces together with the wooden pegs, then bolt down. Done. 5 minutes tops.
Yes, it's unpainted MDF, but it really doesn't look too bad. It looks so much nicer than all the other scratching posts out there, you won't mind having it in your lounge.
It's heavy, solid, and the cats adore it. I've had cats leap on the side of it, holding on with their claws, and it's remained firmly planted on the ground.
I'm so impressed I'm going to buy another one.
Also, the top of it is just big enough for a cat to perch on, ready to leap onto another cat that comes close!
Sturdy base so it doesn't topple over with good quality sisal which keeps the cats claws nice and healthy.
Plus the cats love sitting on the top to look out the window!
I get it this one is more expensive but at the benefit of your felines, it is well worth its money.
I have never bought my cat the pathetic small ones because I thought they were really pointless and a waste of money.
Cats love to stretch and when they stretch it's a big tall stretch they don't want to do it low to the ground and scratch a tiny scratch post that's no more than 20cm high, it serves 0 purpose for my cat.
This 80cm post is perfect, it literally doesn't move an inch when he scratches. The packaging for it is simple; the post, 4 screws and a foundation base to slot the post in place, all in a tall cardboard box.
It's not hugely light to lift and move long distances but not too heavy either, but you wouldn't want it to fall on your cat while it's sharpening those claws would you. Id rather it would too heavy than light.
To get my cat a bit more interested in it when it first arrived, I sprinkled some cat nip on/around it. He loves some cat nip (and no it doesn't turn him aggressive)
And job done,
Yes my one cat has an 80cm scratch post all to himself and he is very happy.
I also bought a friend one, she will probably need more than one as she has 11 cats but she can invest in more later.
But yeah just buy it for the benefit or your cat not the stupid small ones just because they are cheaper! Don't be a dumb cat owner.
Enjoy! I know your cats will!
