Another great book by Amy Harmon! It is not only about the girl who did not get the guy, it is about friendship, loyalty and family. I really felt for Mercedes and her selflessness in all aspects of her life which included giving up a relationship with Noah the only boy she ever loved. This book has action, laughable moments that will melt your heart and heart break. I enjoyed other characters from Amy Harmon's other books which played a part in this story. Some parts were a little unbelievable which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Overall a great book which I enjoyed.

Another poignant story from Amy Harmon, once again she has highlighted how mental illness colours our world and how many people are affected by it either directly or indirectly. I enjoyed the character interactions and their development. I particularly liked how she interwove the past and present into the story.

Once again Amy has written a heartwarming, heart healing love story. The characters a real and raw and so beautifully crafted. Noah and Mercedes love is not just a love story but a life story!

This story..will grab you and not let you go. Read it to be touched so deeply by the characters you will remember them often. A book and story to hold in your heart and memory for a long long time. Written by an Author who deserves all the blessings and accolades she deserves. Her ability amazes me. I feel honoured to read her books.

This is my second Amy Harmon book and I loved it as much as the first. She has a way of crafting characters - their frailties, insecurities, strengths and ugliness - into real people that take a small piece of my heart with every word.
"The Smallest Part" is no different. I loved Noah the moment he stepped onto the stage. My heart broke for Mercedes and the difficult choices she not only made, but stuck to.
And Cora. I don't think I can say anything without shouting spoilers... or just shouting... so, I won't.
Thank you, Ms Harmon, for another beautiful, broken story to immerse your readers in.

Amy Harmon - your words make me smile, they make me cry, they make me laugh, they make me anxious... they make me FEEL.
If you gave me a dictionary, I could take all the words and arrange them so they're readable but just that. You take those same words and re-arrange them so they're magical.
This story was so very powerful and beautiful. The love scenes were written just so. They were hot and steamy but not torrid and vulgar.
I love a good kiss... I do... Your kissing scenes were out of this world, written so beautifully and poetically I completely immersed myself in them.
This book might have just elevated itself to "Greatest Amy Harmon book of all time". That's a hard thing to write considering the books that preceded it but it's true. It's a book that will go on the re-read list.
Thankyou for giving it to us. All the twists, all the turns, all the beauty but most of all, all the love.
If you're a reader and reading my review wondering if you should buy this book, then go. Buy it. This book has no lulls, past and present weave together seamlessly, A beautiful story builds and sometimes leaves you breathless. You will not be dissapointed, I'll make that a promise.

'The Smallest Part', by Amy Harmon, was another example of her outstanding writing skills - authentic, well-thought-out, heartbreaking, enchanting and gripping.
Initially, I put-off reading TSP because I knew it would be gaspingly emotional. (And the complexities of this love triangle scenario were...very!)
The multidimensional characters (Mercedes, Cora and Noah) were sympathetic, vulnerable and fallible. As the characters' layers were revealed, I was fully invested in the trope.
Amy has the ability to weave heart, intricacies, intimacy, life experiences and reflections into one mesmerising narrative after another. It's obvious that she puts 'her all' into every page - a natural story-teller, plot navigator and communicator. This one featured serendipity, true love, loyal friendships and spirituality. But it also highlighted mental health, consequences, sacrifice, loss, lies and secrets. I'm mostly a realist, but Amy's writing style always lures me into thinking...perhaps?!
Overall, 'The Smallest Part', evoked deep feelings of hope in me...beautiful memorable...gently told, but powerful.

I love this lady's writing! I've found very few authors can weave a story around a group of characters but still have you know almost immediately from the writing style alone whose perspective you're reading. It seems to be that way because from the start there is just the right amount of detail to make you understand the character but still leave you wanting to know more. To truly love a book for me I need to become those characters, good or bad, and be able to disappear into their world. Amy writes such wonderful characters that I find I'm doing that despite there being a number of POVs and I'm feeling empathy with all of them. I also find there's just that perfect balance of not wanting to put the book down (just one more chapter...) and the not wanting to finish and have to leave them just yet. Sensitive issues are covered and there always seems to have been the right amount of research, or personal knowledge maybe, that they are completely believable.
I know I haven't touched on the story line in this review. That's deliberate because although it stands alone as a wonderful book, I think you'll get the best out of it by reading the other books that feature Noah first. If you haven't it's fine but I can guarantee you'll be wanting to afterwards!
I'm older than the main characters but I found it really nostalgic and loved the way the chapters started with the earlier experience and then went on to the current, showing how that had an impact or related to the story. Again the writing style was perfect for the age of the characters at each time too. I almost feel like I grew up with The Three Amigos 😀 It just seemed to flow so easily where so many times you feel like a clump of throwback has just been added as an afterthought to ensure it makes sense and you feel you're jumping all over. Loved, loved, loved every second of it!!

Such an amazingly emotional wonderful book. There are times a book comes along and you read it knowing it has made an impact on your life and your heart and that you will never forget it, this is one of those books. Simply a stunning story, full of heartache, love, loyalty, friendships and family.
Amy's writing as always is impeccable, addictive, humbling. Such an honour to read.
Mercedes is such a strong character but full of cheeky sass, a loyal wonderful friend, always putting others before herself and yet she is vulnerable too, has a great sense of humour; Mercedes put many a happy smile on my face.
Noah - oh my where do we start with this man, so sweet and lovable, I mean what's not to like about his character.
Cora, I think I was really confused at first with her, I went back and re read a couple of chapters, then I got angry, then I felt sad and then I forgave. Amy has written this character with compassion which helps you to understand the situation she found herself in slightly better.
Secondary characters played a major part in the story and were a complete delight to encounter. It worked so well.
There were twist in this book that I didn't expect or anticipate and kept me hanging on the edge of my seat, I literally could not put the book down. A book that should be read as soon as possible, a book that stole my heart. Go one click this book and let it steal a piece of yours too - 5 beautiful brilliant shining spectacular stars !!!!

Amy Harmon is, undoubtedly, one of the outstanding romance writers we have today. She writes with depth and a certain kind of spirituality that resonates with readers. This book is about Noah Anderlin and Mercedes Lopez, childhood friends who have been there for each other through every life's joys and tribulations. Noah was Moses Wright's therapist at Montlake. There is no need to read The Law of Moses before this one but it's highly recommended to be able to fully appreciate the richness of this book's story arc. Highly recommended.

A tale of tragedy, longing, secrets and betrayal!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 March 2018Verified Purchase
The Smallest Part is a story of love and friendship, woven into a tale of tragedy, longing, secrets and betrayal. I loved the eclectic mix of characters especially Noah and Mercedes. There are elements to the story I wasn't expecting or believe in, but it added intrigue to a great storyline. With plenty going on, this well written and engaging book by Amy Harmon is well worth the read.

The storyline was nothing short of brilliant. From the very first page, I was hooked, and although I kind of had a feeling how the story was going to play out, I was so engrossed and couldn’t put it down until I had finished. Any Harmons writing is simply stunning and I know this book is going to stay with me for a long time to come.
