The pros:
1. He can drink water, and come drop his beard on my lap and there is absolutely minimal water. This is a lifesaver for my couch, another favourite place to plop his beard down.
2. No more water trails all over the house
3. Easy transition period
4. Dog likes it
5. Greatly reduces beard staining
The cons:
1. It is INCREDIBLY hard to get the hang of this thing in the first few days. Ion figured it out immediately, but me? Not so much lol.
2. There is a transition period, but it’s exactly what they say - a 1-2 week break in period.
Once you get the hang of it, this thing is a game changer. Even if it did continue dripping all over the floor, that’s the price I pay for getting a bearded dog. I knew wet laps were in my future.
But it’s great because now they don’t have to be!
The biggest selling point for me, however, is how well it keeps his beard from staining. Anyone with a white bearded dog knows what a struggle it is to keep a beard from heavy staining.

We have a Great Dane who is about 150lbs. When he drinks, he drinks A LOT of water! Often, he drinks so much, so fast, that he can walk away and throw up the water in a few minutes. The other issue we have is when he drinks, he has massive amounts of drool and water trails that follow him all over the house. We keep towels on the floor in our mudroom where his water bowl is located, but he still drips and drools all over the wood floor on the first floor of the house.
I ran across this bowl and thought I would give it a try! A $50 water bowl does seem excessive, but if it helps stop the drool trails and help my Dane drink slower, I'm all for it!
It did take about 2-3 days before our Great Dane really got comfortable using the bowl. He would take a few drinks here and there, but seemed confused about it and not so sure. I felt at first he wasn't getting enough water and would fill up an outside bowl for him to drink from. We didn't want him to always use the outside bowl, so after 3 days, we just used the Slobber Stopper and he seemed to finally understand that this was his new water bowl.
He drinks MUCH slower and he has not thrown up once! This is a nifty bowl and I look forward to a drool free house :)
