This was a fantastic read! In "Slippery" we spend a few years in Flynn's shoes (and his mind) as Carroll takes us on a journey throughout South East Asia, exposing an industry and expatriot scene in a way that is rarely spoken about. Using raw and colourful language, Carroll doesn't hold back as he teaches us about the ins and outs of the men in suits who make millions from the finance industry - in particular those who work in metal and oil trading - breaking down seemingly complex financial theories and concepts using blunt, sarcastic and humerous analogies. And once we're able to to understand what a joke the whole concept is, we're given an explicit and uncensored insider's view as to what these guys get up to in their free time, often in the seedy red light districts that plague cities such as Singapore and Shanghai.
Highly recommended for anyone who has travelled, knows someone in the finance sector, or has ever been curious about ex-pat life.
