Product Description

Dr. Turner Brooks may be the professional brother, but he's also the adrenaline junkie. When he meets Annabelle, a girl scared to death of veering from the path she’s paved for herself, all he wants to do is push her out of that comfort zone.

Annabelle has already lost too much. She wants to stay focused on her new nursing job and away from unnecessary risks. Turner Brooks is exactly that – an unnecessary risk. She’s heard the rumors about him flying around the hospital, describing him as a “womanizer” or “sex god.” Yeah, she doesn’t need that.

Still, Turner tries to teach her that life is full of risks worth taking. As they grow closer and she begins to let go, the unexpected happens.

Will they be able to recover from that surprising fastball or could this be the final strike out?

**This book can be read as a stand alone**

Firstly - can I say #ArmPorn on the cover??

This is the second in the Core Four series, and can be read as a stand alone. In fact, it felt like a stand alone as it had been so long since I read the first one (Bender) and I had mostly forgotten it's story.

I loved the first book, so I was really looking forward to Slider. And while I liked it, I just didn't love it.

Dr Turner Brooks was enamoured with Annabelle from their first meeting. Annabelle had the insta-lust thing going on with him.

I did like that she didn't immediately fall at Turner's feet or into his bed, but made him work for it.

I loved the dates that Turner put together for them - showed how much he really was interested in Annabelle.

But Annabelle - she just faded into the background for me. I had to reread the blurb to even remember her name! I am not sure what it was about her, but I just didn't find her memorable at all.

Slider was a sweet, fastpaced (maybe a little too fast paced at times?) story that was a good way to fill in an afternoon - but it just didn't stick with me.

Although I will be reading the next two, as I think Wrigley's story is going to be fun.

I felt like I was waiting for what felt a life time for this book to be released I wasn't disappointed the Brook family is a dream come true and the Brooke boys never fail in the charm department. This book had a few tear jerker moments and Turner turned out to be sweet and put his man whore ways to the side. Some awesome dates were dished out and before Annebelle could think she had fallen for Dr Brooks.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series 'Bender' while this was a nice romantic story with some great plot lines, I felt that the characters were underdeveloped. Looking forward for Macies story, hope it lives up to the first book.

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! 30 September 2015

I waited so long for the next Brooks brothers story and what a disappointment. There was no chemistry between Turner and Annabelle. She was very unlikable. The storyline was rushed as was the character development. I get so tired of girls who cave to whatever the friends want her to do, I.e, wear slutty clothes, go to a bar, etc. Annabelle tries to come off tough but she is just a whiner. There was no build up to their passion. I hope Marcie and Dodger's story is better but then again Macie is also unlikable.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointed.. 24 September 2015

I'm not gonna lie, I was slightly disappointed with this book. I've been looking forward to this book for over a year now. I fell in love with the Brooks family in Bender, and in the epilogue when Turner and Annabelle's story was introduced, I couldn't wait. However, by the end of the book, I felt like I barely know the characters like I did in Bender. For example, why did either one go into the medical field? Why was Tuner such an adrenaline junkie? What was Annabelle like as a child? These two honestly only went on about 5 dates and there was little build up to the "I think I'm falling for you." I felt like their relationship was too rushed, or there wasn't enough dialogue between the two. The book, in my opinion, spent too much time in Annabelle's head and about how much she didn't want to "live," yet there was little conflict between the two characters. Annabelle didn't really stand her ground, or fight back like Keegan did with Camden. The passing of baby Noah was heartbreaking, but I felt like it took up too much of the story line. Although the book itself was well written, I think the story could use a lot of work. Still looking forward to Dodger and Macie's story, though!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 25 September 2015

I'm not exactly sure what happened, where is the Stacy that wrote Bender? I'm very confused. This had so much potential and I'm very disappointed. I wanted to love them but I couldn't. Even Camden and Keegan fell short. This 'Novel' was more of a novella. The story was rushed , I'm pretty sure it didnt even go to an editor. This isnt what I waited a year for, no way. Stacy, please take this off the market and consider re writing it. Give us what we waited for. I've never bashed an author and I would hate to think I'm doing it now but come on, is this really what took you so long???Bender was amazing, what happened? Surprise? No. I doubt I'll read Dodgers book if its anything like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read. Very emotionally moving. 26 April 2016

I always like reading new authors and Borel is a new one for me. I loved her 'voice'. Her characters, Annabelle and Turner, along with her ancillary characters were engaging, albeit predictable. That didn't detract from the story, which was also engaging. My only problem with the heroine was something that always irks me as a reader; she was completely aware of the reasons for her reticence towards love. Not only that, but early on in the book she told the reader just that, leaving no discovery in engaging dialogue, no secrets or deductions for the reader to make on their own. It's tantamount to writing with the idea that your readers are too dim witted to figure it out on their own and that can be off-putting. There were pages and pages where the heroine prattles on about her short fallings and fears. I found myself skipping over it to get to the dialogue. Sometimes I found the dialogue wanting, probably because the heroine had already told us what was going on instead of showing us in action or dialogue. I also had an issue with mistakes in the story- spelling, grammar and some formatting. Another peeve. If the author paid someone a lot of money to copy edit this work before they put it up in ebook format, she should consider using another editor. If she didn't have this professionally edited, then she should seriously consider it with her next works. Silly mistakes do happen, but not as often as they did in this work. I would still consider this a good read and was infinitely touched by Annabelle's love for little Noah (lots of tears). I will look forward to Borel's next offering with interest.
