This book is best read in sequence. Not because the characters need it, but because references to events in the previous book make the actions in this book make sense.
I think I like the main character. She is a young woman in search of herself, and that search is even more complicated than usual, because she feels a need to know more about where she comes from, and there is enough mystery (and mysticism) to move her is unexpected directions. She is believable, makes painful errors, and tries to learn from those mistakes.
The people around her provide a splendid frame for her, with one of the strongest (and most tantalizing) being her mother - once Abigail is present, nothing can be predicted!

First book was a bad kindle editionReviewed in the United States on 13 July 2019
I didn't read right away, so didn't know there was a problem with the first book of three. By then it was too late to return for my money back. Not really fair...if you don't read right away you don't know there is a problem with the kindle edition.
