This book follows Sisters of Gold and is set in Birmingham Jewelery quarter just before WW1. This book brings together History with good writing . It appealed to me because its based in Birmingham where I Iive now and mentions many areas near to where I ive. That said though , the story has crafted characters who I found I fell in love with and cared about. It tackles grooming which is somthing that is not just a modern issues but showes its an age old issue too. It highlights how women were treated in a male society of the Edwardian time but showes how people can shake off societies norms. Its not a dull read let me assure the romantics its good for romance too. One negative if I had to hhighlight one is it starts off rather slow but I understand why the author had to start this way. A lovely book though well worth the time.

I enjoyed this book about Daisy and the Jewellery quarter in Birmingham. How she was a young girl who was groomed by her tutor and left pregnant. She had her baby and her family stood by her.
How she built her life and went to work with men who had been injured in the war. She worked at Rubery and Hollymoor hospitals both places I lived near. Here she met her husband who had both legs amputated during the war.

As a B'ham resident, I have worked in the jewellery quarter (as did my husband) and although there have been many changes there I recognised a lot of the road names, which brought back memories. I found the various processes and industries that used to reside in this area absolutely fascinating.

Thoroughly enjoyed this novel: well researched and believable. Particularly interesting as I have visited the jewellery quarter museum (where a jewellery making factory has been preserved just as it was left in the 1970s when there was no longer a family member to inherit). Back to the author’s normal high standard after a slightly disappointing first book in this two book series. Very glad I had bought both together.

Lovely book, I read a lot of Annie Murray books as most of them are based in Birmingham where I was born.
I used to work around the Jewelry Quarter so a lot of the streets mentioned are very familiar to me.
Also the Hospitals mentioned the one which is now my GPs surgery. Really enjoying the read. Lovely interesting story line.
