5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice! Wide feet friendly..

I am new to peloton cycling but not new to wide shoe shopping. As a reference point: I am a size 12. If I buy a set of running mesh style Nike’s I have to pick the wide width version or go bigger in size. Looking at several brands and models in this style of shoe, none seemed to me to be wide friendly. What’s a Bigfoot to do!?
Feeling like I could only gamble, I decided to just pick on looks and hopefully some reviews. In other words, i came to the conclusion I may need to just buy and try - probably several times. Argh!
So I found these all black shoes and read the reviews.
Some of the reviews suggested buying 1 size up. I went with the M12-12.5 version. On the box it says 12.3 or eu 48.
They turned out to be really comfy and I have plenty of room. So much so, I probably could have done a straight 12 or maybe smaller.
A few rides in and I am definitely happy. No pain, no problems to report. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Quality - but be aware that these are not normal SPD Mountain Bike Shoes
Reviewed in the United States on 11 January 2021
My old Shimano mtb shoes are well over 10 years old and I figured it was time to get new pair. Since my experience with Shimano quality was so good, I got another pair of Shimanos.

These cleats are very comfortable and efficient. I can't wait to do some longer rides in them come spring. they are perfect for my fitness bike workouts and long rides. They can also accept SPD-SL cleats, should I ever use those.

However, these are not normal SPD mountain bike shoes. They are more like road bike shoes that can accept mountain bike type (SPD) cleats. As such, you cannot walk around normally in these shoes. They do not have a rubber sole built up around the cleat plate. See the photo. If you are looking for a general purpose shoe that you can walk around in when you get off the bike, these are not what you want. They are for cycling only.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoes for Cycling Beginner!
Reviewed in the United States on 1 July 2019
I picked up a new gravel bike this past Spring and a set of Shimano pedals so I figured I'd stay with the Shimano brand for my cycling shoes too. Needless to say, that for a newbie entering road biking for the first time, I was shocked prices on everything from pedals to shoes!

I specifically set out to buy sub-$100 cycling shoes simply because I wasn't sure that I'd really take to road/gravel biking and didn't want to drop a ton of money.

Well, I've been really enjoying my new bike and these Shimano shoes since April and I'm not at all regretting my choice in cycling shoes! The SH-RP1 are pretty barebones in terms of features but they work well and maybe I just don't know any better.

I will offer a bit of advice when ordering. I assumed the sizes were EU and ordered a size 43, my typical EU size, and the shoes I received were way too small. I ordered two sizes up (45) and the shoes fit basically perfectly. I hover between a 10.5 and 11 size shoe in US sizes, depending on the brand.

Lastly, if you're new like me, don't forget to order the actual cleats (the part that bolts onto the bottom of the shoes and allows you to snap in/out of the pedals). I ordered this [[ASIN:B009ZMZF18 SHIMANO Unisex Cleat Set Self-Aligning SM-SH11]] and it works perfectly with the RP1 shoes and my pedals!

Overall, for the price, I think these are really great for a person new to cycling or someone not looking to drop a lot of money on a cycling shoe! Recommended!
