A great 1st in a new cozy series

Marty and Irene are on the case and having some laughs along the way, in this great adventure mystery.

Marty is a barrister, she loves to sit in on classes at Stanford University in her spare time and now after the death of her great aunt Kate who she didn't even know existed Marty is als a pretend Private Investigator, her fake boss is Sherlock Homes and Marty has just met Dr Watson who is the Medical Examiner and a hoty Dr to boot.

I have to say I love Irene she is just awesome especially at getting Marty into risky situations but she always has a solution and seriously who cares if those solutions border on illegal Irene will sort it all for Marty....lol

Marty is great she just lacks self confidence at times but she is super smart and I am looking forward to more of her and Irene solving mysteries.

I love a good mystery and this one is a real gem. Any mystery lover will really get into it and I enjoyed the humour. It was one of those books that really drew me in and kept me guessing with its twists and turns. I feel that Gemma and Kelly are on to a winner with this one. Do yourself a favour and give this one a read you will not be sorry.

Hopefully, this will be the first in a series. As a Sherlock Holmes fan of never-mind-how-many-years standing, I was a bit suspicious of a book that uses so many familiar names, but the way each character in this book has a different personality from the ones in the original Holmes series soon won me over. This is an excellent amateur detective mystery, with strong characters, good plot and a lot of quirky humour. HIghly recommended.

I flat out loved this book! It had shades of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and elements of the Remington Steele TV show that starred Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist. It was such a fun read. I enjoyed the layout of the mystery and I really liked Marty Hudson's character. I have read many of Gemma Halliday's books but had lost touch with her new books. So glad I rediscovered her with this series. I have already purchased the second book and I'm looking forward to more. May Aunt Kate rest in peace now.
