About the author
Tedd Tripp (B.A., Geneva College; M.Div., Philadelphia Theological Seminary; D. Min, Westminster Theological Seminary) is the president of Shepherding the Heart Ministries, and is Pastor Emeritus of Grace Fellowship Church in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, where he served from 1980 until 2012. Tedd has developed and teaches materials that encourage the people of God to understand gospel hope for the ways that human beings are pushed and pulled by the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Shepherding a Child's Heart
Shepherding a Child’s Heart is about how to speak to the heart of your child (Luke 6:45). Written for parents with children of any age, this insightful book provides perspectives and procedures for shepherding your child’s heart into the paths of life.
In this revised edition, Dr. Tedd Tripp draws on his thirty years experience as a pastor, counselor, school administrator, and father, and shares insights gained in many years of teaching this material in conferences worldwide.

Published by Shepherd Press
Shepherd Press is committed to providing God’s people with solid biblical books and materials. The resources we publish have two qualities that make them unique and spiritually satisfying.
First, they focus on heart issues rather than performance issues. We all know that it is possible to master some Christian performance skills without experiencing internal change. We long for authentic change that works from the inside out. Our resources focus on the 'abundance of the heart,' not just performance.
Second, our resources maintain the centrality of the gospel. The riches of the gospel go deeper than the wonderful assurance of forgiven sins and eternal life. The message of the gospel also includes radical, internal transformation and empowerment to live in the ways God calls us to live.
At Shepherd Press we look for materials that serve both of these ends—they help us identify the idols of the heart that pollute our service to Christ and keep us from obeying God. They also encourage us that we can 'do all things through Christ who gives [us] strength.' They remind us that the gospel is for Christians as we daily repent and cast ourselves on the abundant grace of Jesus Christ.

Tedd Tripp knows what he is talking about and who he is talking to. He knows children, he knows parents…and he knows the ways of God. This book teaches you what your goals should be and how to pursue these ends practically. It teaches you how to talk to your children and what to talk about. It will inspire you to become a different kind of parent. This is a masterful book. --David Powlison
I am glad to recommend this book for its remarkably clear, biblical, and practical teaching. Earnest fathers and mothers will find it also eminently "do-able." --Elisabeth Elliot

In stark contrast we have Shepherding a Child's Heart. 'Fathers provoke not your children to anger' is my main response to this book.
PS Reading through some of the comments, I would not probably recommend this book for a non-Christian. Without first knowing by experience God's own grace love & discipline in one's life, it would be hard to understand & bring that knowledge to bear in a child's life.
I like his approach except for the bit on the rod. I don't agree with his theology that backs up his use of the Old Testament for that. If you are willing to read critically, it is a very helpful tool for childrearing.
