I read this one years ago and I'm pretty sure I liked it. The one thing I do remember is the cover as I've always had to look twice at it.
On this read, I did like it, but not as much as I thought I would.
I liked Evie, and enjoyed watching her come out of her shell as she gets to know Van. I liked the fact that she was the one pushing the relationship forward, even when she didn't quite know what she was doing. This also was a draw back at times as she went from total innocent to master seductress in the blink of an eye. Knowing what she wanted when she had no previous knowledge and no way to gain that knowledge.
I liked Van and the patience he showed throughout the book. I really liked that he was trying to get to know her and talk to her more when she was trying to forward the physical relationship
All in all an ok read
When a young & innocent Evie encounters a punk kid buying pot from her next-door neighbour, she never anticipated that he would unlock the girl she always wanted to be. With a sheltered life forced upon her, Evie never imagined that a boy like Van could teach her to embrace her innocence, awkwardness and sexuality that’s been desperate to bloom.
Van is misunderstood, perceived as a delinquent based on his appearance yet he’s delightfully perfect . He’s drawn to Evie from his first meeting and neither can resist spending time together, even if it must be done in secret. Evie never thought that she could capture the eye of such a big hulk of a man like Van. And here begins a wondrous journey of exploration and loving that will implode once they are found out.
I can’t put in words how magical I find Charlotte Stein’s writing. In fact, I’d read anything she writes. Her voice is unique, she’s not afraid to push the boundaries, has a knack for making her characters come to life and you’re always guaranteed a flustering hot read. Spare panties required!

Those were my reasons for purchase, your reason should be that this book is beautiful. The love story between Van and Evie is so tender and real that you just want to gather up these two and protect them from the world. You become so invested in the story that you never want it to end.
Loved, loved, loved this book.💕
Evie goes to Bible College, isn't really allowed to do anything without fear of retribution from her father. She's intrigued by a man who visits her neighbour, he's different to anyone she's allowed to talk to but her curiosity becomes too much and despite the fear of her father finding out, they begin to talk. Van is different too, he has his own demons but together they work through them.
There is a lot of sexual content which may put some people off but surprisingly it mirrored a real life story I know of.
Why three stars? It finishes too abruptly.
