The attraction between Tara and Raif is immediate and palpable. I loved Tara’s reaction to Raif’s voice, “It trawled dark, deep and dangerous through her middle, like a velvet ribbon wound around metal.” This is just one example of the superb imagery scattered through this book.
Despite the sensual pull, there’s plenty of push as well. Raif is a sheikh, accustomed to having his commands obeyed and his every desire met. Tara is an independent woman also accustomed to having her own way and strongly opposed to being told what to do, no matter who is doing the telling. Heads butted and sparks flew between these two, making for a very entertaining story. It’s quite clear that author Annie West enjoyed writing this book at least as much as I’ve enjoyed reading it.
Great world building, and characters.
Tara and Sheikh Raif story starts with betrayal.
Tara escapes rolled up inside a carpet.
Sheikh Raif must decide what to do with the beauty at his feet.
A love story watching two people who's countries are enemies - become friends, and more.
