Product Description

While trying to teach her adopted daughter, Reema, how to work with molten glass, Opal receives a letter from Master Magician Zitora Cowan requesting Opal's immediate help. Zitora resigned from the Sitian Council over two years ago to search for her lost sister, and no one has heard from her since. The letter is probably a trick, but Opal refuses to pass up the opportunity to help her mentor, who may be in genuine trouble. Good thing Opal isn't that easy to fool. With her two soldier friends Nic and Eve providing backup, the three travel to a small town in the Jewelrose Clan. But can they rescue the Master Magician without being caught in the same trap?

Who can resist a Maria V. Snyder novella? I loved reading more about Opal and Zitora, as expected the writing was superb as always, the plot interesting and the characters great as usual. Definitely worth reading if you like the Study Series

Over two years ago Master Magician Zitora Cowan retired her position to embark on a quest to find her lost sister. No one has heard from Zitora, until Opal receives a cryptic letter asking for help. Plucked from her domestic life into the world of a megalomaniac, Opal and friends must find Zitora, save her sister and get out alive. But will they make it in time, and what awaits them when they return?

Another amazing novella from the intriguing mind of Maria V. Snyder, and a must read for all Study fans. Taking place at the same time as the much awaited Dawn Study, we are finally given an answer to the question of what happened to Zitora. And the view into the everyday life of Opal is heart-warming for all lovers of the Glass series. To top off this fantastic interlude, the ebook also treats readers to the first two chapters of Dawn Study! It is the perfect thing to hold off withdrawals from this wonderful fantasy world. A definite must for all MVS fans!

Already a huge fan of this series, so no surprises that I liked the novella. Liked, not loved. I didn't find the story as gripping as others, although the ending sure as hell is.

I would love to give it 5 stars, but would give
3 1/2 of it were possible...I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!!
I really like this series and this set of characters that bridge smoothly from one series to another I just seriously hate being left at what is not a logical end point, knowing there is more to come is fine, being bludgeoned half to death with no real end in sight however is unacceptable.
I hope this is not the beginning of a habit of I will have to stop buying these books. I read to relax, not to learn more ways to be frustrated or angry
5.0 out of 5 stars Fan-Freaking-tastic! A MUST READ! <3 23 November 2016

As soon as I heard that Maria V. Snyder had a novella out I immediately went to Amazon and bought my copy of Shattered Glass! I am a HUGE fan of Maria’s and if she’s going to have more books/stories out based in her Study world, I am soooo going to be there! Shattered Glass brings us back to Opal at last and we get to go on quite the adventure with her!

It’s been ages since I last caught up with Opal and her story! Though I do remember bits and pieces of it and the more important part of how everything ended and where she was at with HEA ending. She and Devlen are married. The man who had kidnapped her and tormented her, is no more. He’s a changed man and I truly, truly love that! I love seeing characters change like this. But that’s not where our story lies, I just wanted to mention it because I got all swoony with how much Devlen loves Opal. Lol.

Moving on, Opal received a letter from Zitora who she hasn’t heard from in over two years. She was going to find her sister when last we heard from her. She has found her, but things are not quite happy as she would’ve hoped and she needs Opal help in helping her sister. Opal decides right away to make the journey to see her with Nic and Eve in tow, but before they can leave they are waylaid by a pack of soldiers. Narrowly escaping them they travel far to not a kingdom, but what’s almost like an enclosed compound. There they find Zitora and her sister who is sick and being held captive by her husband who’s a bit overly paranoid.

And so begins the action and adventure as Opal and her friends try to devise a plan to help Zelene and her sons escape. Though a short story, Maria still knows how to incorporate everything that I love about her books, there’s spine-tingling romance, a round of laughter, and a heaping amount of kick butt action! It was amazing!! And though I should’ve been warned ahead of time in some ways, I was not prepared for that ending! Things are wrapped up to a nice conclusion for the most part, but Maria couldn’t help but leave us with a cliffhanger! One that just leaves your jaw hanging, no less! From what Maria has said, things will be continued in Dawn Study! So I cannot wait even MORE for that one to come out soon!!

This is a MUST read for all Study and Glass fans! It definitely helps keep me somewhat sated until Dawn Study releases, though I really want more. So I guess in the long run, it only made me need Dawn Study more! Lol! I loved it though, so it’s no hardship. It’s truly a remarkable read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the character development and became attached to the characters ... 29 January 2017

I am a big fan of Maria Snyder. I drive all day so I listen to books all day long. I came across Poison Study in a list and took a chance and was thoroughly entranced into her world. Loved the character development and became attached to the characters in the story. Then went on to read all the other books in the series. After completion I went to her website to find when and if there was to be more written and found the Glass series and have devoured them also. Some complain that there is to much correlation between the two but I found that the two story lines and characters were, albeit similar, different enough to enjoy both series very well. Different magics and directions were more than enough for me. I suspend my real life and try to go to live in the stories world. Not take their world and make it conform to what I think it should be. many folks seem to want to form and mold the story instead of taking the adventure elsewhere. Maria is very good in her story building and imaging of the events that take place. This is a filler. You need to be familiar with the characters and story lines before your read this. It is a filler novella for fans who just can't get enough. I will admit that I was a little disappointed in how it had open endings that lead into the next in the series. I would have liked individual stories, with endings or new characters to complement story lines, as readers of this will be serious fans and not need to be enticed to read the "next". Read the series and then pick this up and end enjoy.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! 22 November 2016

I was so excited when I heard about this novella! I've often wondered what happened to Zitora and if she ever found her sister, so I was really happy to get that answer in this story! There's also an excerpt for the first two chapters of Dawn Study included which was awesome and made me even more anxious for that book to be released! Shattered Glass was another great one from Maria V. Snyder and a definite must read!

I have loved all of Maria Snyder's books, and this little novella functions to bring our missing master magician back into the action of the final book, Dawn Study. Opal is a great character and this story of a sister's love, domestic violence and, of course, daring escapes was a great little taste of action.
