Shatter the Earth: Cassandra Palmer Series, Book 10 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Ironically for the time-traveling chief seer of the supernatural world, time has never been on Cassie Palmer's side. There has always seemed to be too much to learn, too much to master, and never enough hours in a day. But the tables have now turned, and the fluctuating timelines of Earth and Faerie are diverging, slowing time in Faerie relative to Earth, and giving humans an advantage for the first time in their war with the fey.
It is one they desperately need, for a literal war of the worlds is about to take place. To win, or even to survive, Cassie and her allies, the powerful vampire senator Mircea Basarab and the formidable war mage John Pritkin, will have to pull off their greatest feat yet. And find a way to become more than the sum of their parts.

There's plenty of Pritkin, while Mircea gets just enough screen time to be back in the fold but not overpower the new couple.
If you love the earlier books but felt they were pretty heavy, you;ll love this installment, its concise, well paced and its obvious Karen no longer feels pressured to fit as much as possible in the books while being constranded by a publisher.
Another 5 stars and as always I'm excited for the next book in the series.
There was an epic fight in this book, and some inventive new magical powers, but even these had their issues. After spending so many previous books hyping up a certain event, it was quite the letdown at the end of this book, with not enough payoff for the all the build-up that led up to it. And while the new powers were interesting, the insane power creep takes the heroes to higher and higher levels of absurdity. Seer sense, Pythia time-magic, necromancy, possession, elemental magic, Chimera splitting, Lover's Knot, incubus powers... sometimes this book feels like reading bad OC fan fiction.
Cassie's character was better than she's been for a very long time now, she was competent and coped with this book's new challenges well! There was a lot of Pritkin in this book, and Mircea too actually, so everyone should be happy! Unfortunately Pritkin and Cassie repeatedly had the same arguments about who was protecting whom, and who was lying to whom, and who should risk their life more. Ugh. And we got another side story of Mircea going out of his mind while being linked to Cassie with a spell, which we already had before. The whole concept of 'Lover's Knot' and ex/lovers being bonded with love/lust magic to defeat the bad guys has been explored in other books as well. Sigh. This also made the book feel like not-too-original fan fiction.
The author deserves praise for trying to handle 3 main story lines only, but the book still lacked focus and was taking too long to arrive to a conclusion that ultimately left most of those 3 story lines still unresolved. Although not that much happens, and what does happen falls short of all the fanfare that preceded it, fans should still totally buy it to support the author in her self-publishing journey, as it's still an enjoyable read!
