Tremendous depth in character development. Doing life together. Lowell wonderfully weaves the woes of life into a positive framework that reveals there is goodness amid the pain, loneliness, rejection, cruelty and toughness experienced in life. There is also friendship, creativity, innovation, opportunity and more to learn. This type of storytelling is a welcome addition for me in the Sci-fi genre. I also love the shoot them up and save the world or universe stories and Lowell adds another dimension.
All about building a character and in this next stage of Ismael Wong we start to get a likely type of person he may grow into. There plenty of things going on around our main characters and we are learning like Ismael what its like to be in Space. An enjoyable follow on and nice way of setting up the next book. Love the audio
Read the book, listened to the podcast... the continuing story of life in Deep Space, no aliens, no wars just life as we might know it one day. Nathan Lowell tells a goodly yarn, carefully crafted to absorb the reader in a young man's journey and a dazzling array of friends.
I don't know what ,makes this story (and series) so special. It is not an action packed, swashbuckling type of Sci-fi story, but it is an experience to read it. Normal people doing normal things but being extraordinary all the same.
Even though not much really happens in the first book it was enjoyable .kind of like reading the journal of a space traveller from the future .This the second one though takes a bizarre turn and does 'Ish gets laid' what follows reads likethe authors adolescent fantasys of becoming a cross between Brad Pitt and a teenage dork. all the women he works with are currently lusting after him in the most cringworthy unbelievable way. Total rubbish.

The story was OK, but to me the book was far too short. This could easily have been added on to the first book (OK it would spoil the title). I am not going to buy any more in the series unless the price drops substantially from the £3.99 it is now. The story itself was a bit too 'feel good' for me; in the first one there were some 'bad' things that happened, but in this one there was nothing to counterbalance all the good things.
Picked up the 1st book in the series (Quarter Share) as part of a 10 book special to read on Holiday. Came back a month ago and bought the whole series one after the other. Really good stories.
