To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I hope that there is another book after this one because there were way too many unanswered questions. This story is about a teenager Kylie Bates she can read people’s minds when she touches them her father sends her to a detective Sam Williams to help find a missing girl and when Kylie does she finds out more secrets about herself and how her father has been lying to her this whole time. I enjoyed this story I also had a good chuckle and apart from needing a few things answered it’s still a good read.
I really enjoyed reading this book which is an enthralling mystery with elements of romance and suspense mixed in . The story is quite interesting and moves at a good pace. The characters and their friendships are portrayed well.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Shaken by Susan Hatler is a romance and teens and ya read. High school junior, Kylie Bates, can suddenly read minds. When she touches people’s hands, she’s able to see their deepest thoughts. As if that’s not freaky enough, her dad sends her to help hottie detective, Sam Williams, track down a missing girl. Way too much pressure, especially for a girl who can’t watch Scream without getting nightmares.
Then, finding the missing girl leads to much more than Kylie’s prepared for. Like discovering that her dad has been lying to her. That she has a family she never knew about. That the girls have powers similar to hers. Oh yeah, and that someone is out to get her. This was a fantastic read with brilliant characters. I loved the story and can't wait to read more. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.

This was a really interesting read which had quite a few shocking twists, intriguing paranormal powers and a down-to-earth M.C. Kylie. I really enjoyed the plot and the writing style especially the police investigation. Also, the exploration of telekinesis and the character development was really good.
Overall, this was a really good read with great characters and an interesting plot which was helped along by Kylie's awesome mind reading powers.
Shaken is book #1 of The Mind Reader series of young adult paranormal fiction.
When Kylie discovers that she can read the minds of people just by holding their hand, her world changes dramatically. She's asked to assist the police in a missing child case, but it opens up more questions than answers for Kylie about her past and all that she's ever been told about it.
This is a fast paced story. I liked the idea of reading people's thoughts but I can appreciate how difficult it might be for the reader. I'm not sure where the author will take this in the next book, if there is one, as I couldn't see another one listed.
This story moved along quite nicely. But the ending felt rushed, and left several unanswered questions. It is supposed to be the first in a series. But as this was published five years ago, it doesn't seem to have a satisfactory conclusion. George R R Martin might be able to get away with these gaps in a series, but I suspect that this books readers might have grown up and lost interest.
The book has potential. I couldn't get into the book first but later I couldn't put it down, you want to know what's next. Sometimes when the main character thinking about boys, oh please...spare me. After all book is still worth reading.
just finished this book and really enjoyed it. It is well written and the story sucks you in and you just want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. I wont give you a background to the story as I feel it will spoil the story for you but there are enough twists and turns to keep you glued to your kindle :)
This book is a great read for teenage girls and has a sense of paranormal in it. There is lots of suspense and mystery which makes it such a good book. I would highly recommend this book as it is one of the best books I've ever read. 5 stars.
